You’re thinking they don’t want an autocratic presidency. I still remember carefully explaining to a friend, back in mumblemumble, that voting for someone because “he’s a man of action!” and “he’s strong!” isn’t a good idea unless you think the actions he takes and the way he exercises that strength are correct. He wasn’t convinced. To a lot of people, boisterous blunder is the very essence of authority, noise and speed are what marks “decisiveness”, and “decisiveness” equals leadership; they’re always and forever surprised when the brake-less 18-wheeler runs into their living room.

The New York Times reports that the Navy plans to proceed with expelling Gallagher from the Navy SEALs, on the theory that a tweet isn’t an official order and if he does make it an official order, the Secretary of the Navy and the admiral in charge of the SEALs will resign.

A threat that might carry more weight if the America-hating fuckstick actually valued institutional memory and legacy expertise. The next SECNAV and SEALS CinC will probably be buddies of Eric and DJTJ from their yacht club.

And the thing is even if the next president is a sane person (Republican or Democrat), it’s not simply a matter of hitting the reset button on the Trump Presidency. He’s caused all kinds of damage to the military, the government, America’s international agreements and its standing in the world.

Navy Secretary Richard Spencer has been fired.

Spencer went around his own chain of command – namely Defense Secretary Mark Esper – and straight to the White House, a violation of military policy, the official said.

Esper on Sunday asked for Spencer’s resignation after “losing trust” and “confidence in him,” according to a statement released by Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman. Spencer’s private request to restore Gallagher’s rank and allow him to retire with his Trident pin directly contradicted his public position, according to the statement.

I’m in a minority - I may be the minority - that doesn’t believe any kompromat is involved. Putin or his minions have been blowing smoke up trump’s ass for thirty years, and that’s the only thing that really gets him off (sorry, margin). Nothing will break that bond.

I saw a clip of War Criminal Gallagher from Fox and Friends today. His interview was an audition for a position in the Trump administration. He even used one of Trump’s favorite shticks, calling someone “Cryin’ Craig Miller”. I had to back up and listen again to make sure I heard that right. Actually, I’m surprised more of his sycophants don’t make use of that. Anyway, look for Gallagher’s new appointment soon. Maybe if the guy Trump picked already to be the new Secretary of the Navy doesn’t work out.
