Don’t сукаshame.
The notion that evangelical Christianity had anything to do with the teachings of Christ was dispelled to even the most casual observer a long, long time before Donald Trump floated the idea of running for President. Some people saw their hypocrisy before Donald Trump was even a publically known figure. Barry Goldwater was sounding the alarm about the fanatics what, 30 years ago? 40?
Agreed. The ship sailed away decades ago.
I think that many self described “evangelicals” would not know the teachings of Christ if he appeared and preached in front of them. They’d probably demand he be locked up.
What would they think about Jesus’ family? A swarthy Jewish middle eastern unwed refugee couple with their little bastard…
Sorta similar to Trump saying the 2016 election was rigged and that was why he was going to lose. The fix was in by Crooked Hillary and the Democrat Party!
Isn’t the prevalent theory that his whole run was a publicity stunt to get a TV network of his own? And it backfired on him and screwed the rest of the country.
Gimme hair spray and a zippo. It’ll be a short zombie apocalypse.
He just borrows Serving the Dark Lord Digest from Mitch and looks at the pictures.
I have trouble wrapping my head around the idea that people are going to church next week, attending nativity plays and/or building creches while not caring what happens to the refugees at the border, or even approving of the caging children, separating families and so forth.
It might be amusing to do a nativity play in which Joseph and Mary are arrested by the border patrol and their child taken from them.
Gandhi is supposed to have said, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

A church in Southern California put Jesus, Mary and Joseph in individual cages in front of the church.

…
This absolutely kills me. I sing in a choir at a very liberal Episcopal church. There is ONE Trumper in the choir, and every week he sings a psalm or some prayer. He sings about the poor, and God’s love, and helping the widow and orphan <or whatever> and his Facebook page is all about hate and keeping those people out – I cannot begin to understand that. :smack:

In my opinion, that ship has sailed. The evangelicals knew that Trump was a pussy-grabbing adulterer before the election. They knew he was morally corrupt, and unrepentant to boot. They voted for him anyway.
They warned about the Anti-Christ for 2000 years, and when he showed up they voted for him.

That’s a pure example of doublethink in the wild. Orwell didn’t invent the concept, he only gave it a name, and it’s a devastating phenomenon for every society.

Stealing.
A piece on Trump and his evangelical supporters:
Trump’s rage at Christianity Today gives away his scam
Every thing with Trump is quid pro quo:
President Trump just erupted in a rage at the magazine Christianity Today over its scathing, moralistic call for his removal over the Ukraine scandal. In so doing, Trump shed light on his understanding of the oft-debated oddity that millions of evangelical Christians remain loyal to the most hateful, depraved, self-dealing and self-aggrandizing individual to occupy the Oval Office in modern history.
In an unwittingly self-revealing moment, Trump responded to the magazine’s indictment of his profound moral failings with an argument that is thoroughly transactional and megalomaniacal: How dare you criticize me, after all the power I’ve granted to your movement? You’re breaking our deal, and now you’re dead to me.
[italics in the original]
And why many evangelicals still support him now:
Indeed, the transactional cast to Trump’s rage over this is particularly instructive, once you understand that Trump and his top advisers have consciously enlisted the nation’s evangelicals as an army of Trump defenders in the war against impeachment, which is widely depicted in the evangelical movement as a kind of epic persecution of Trump carried out by the godless and the damned.
As Sarah Posner details in a terrific piece, this effort is concerted, multifaceted and highly organized. Numerous high-profile evangelicals regularly depict impeachment as a disruption of God’s plan for America to be governed by Christians in accord with “biblical” values.
Impeachment is merely the weapon that the secular, satanic left is wielding to carry out its broader pro-abortion, anti-religious-liberty agenda, which requires the removal of Trump, the savior of Christian America, all to keep the persecution of Christians going at full throttle.

In some kind of warped way, I dare to say that…I understand Trump.
Hear me out:
The Evangelical Christians (not all but many) sold their souls to the devil, eyes wide open. All the devil asks for is loyalty, and now the people who sold their souls are going back on their agreement.
I can see why he’s pissed.
p.s. Don’t sign that contract in blood.

Don’t сукаshame.
Excuse moi, it was merely a куклаshame.
(For those following from home: “bitch/slut” vs “doll/puppet”)
ETA: I think I may start referring to Trump as Orange Fat Ken…
Yeah! Wayne Newton, right?
“Psycho-shame, darlin’, psycho-shame…”
I hope Trump continues to watch only Fox News so that if he testifies at some point, he’ll be so ill-prepared and blindsided that the subsequent trainwreck will be a Waterloo meltdown.

I was today years old when I found out Kukla (as in Kukla, Fran and Ollie) was just named “puppet”.
