I shudder to think how bad it will get. Over the past three years, we have seen 100 million people deny the evidence of their eyes and ears when it comes to Trump.
So imagine those people when deep fakes become indistinguishable from actual video records. I imagine Putin has his techs working on that as a very high priority, so he can flood the internet with videos of Biden taking money from Ukraine or whatever. And genuine dirt that turns up on Trump or Graham will be reported on Fox News as a Ukrainian fake.

I’m not even sure that level of sophistication is necessary now. They already seem determined to believe and repeat things that are obviously nonsensical, self-contradictory and irrational. Putting effort into faking evidence for them is redundant.
There was one, it was called “the 2016 election.” Unfortunately, a bunch of people either didn’t understand the consequences, would not have cared anyway, and/or are thrilled with this outcome.

BUT, myself, though I am THIS close ---->||<---- to thinking and saying the same thing, I keep reassuring myself with one last sliver of hope every time I find myself thinking that way: No, the majority of American voters didn’t vote for Trump in 2016! A majority voted for Clinton! It was a gruesome aberration of the Electoral College that put Trump where he is.
As long as that remains true, I will still, difficult though it is, try to maintain some confidence in the American Voters. The 2020 election will tell.
If Trump is voted out of office, my last waning shreds of confidence in American democracy will be vindicated.
If Trump is re-elected by an actual majority of voters – awww shit, we Americans, collectively, truly aren’t fit to live in a democracy any more.
Either way, Churchill was right – In a democracy, the people get the government they deserve.
But if Trump loses the popular vote again but is elected by the Electoral College again – Well, it’s time for some serious Constitutional Amending, if there will ever be an opportunity for that again.
