If that was intended as a joke, I have to admit finding it amusing, and possibly the only joke Trump has (allegedly) made that I liked, but I’m a sucker for self-deprecating irony.
I’m guessing luntz was the one making a funny at Trump’s expense, not Trump. I can’t imagine anyone would ask the president what his middle initial stands for. It’s pretty common knowledge, and if not, it’s easily wikipediable.
This is a guy who thinks it’s hysterical to joke about being President for Life. Or about “you Second Amendment people” finding a solution if Hillary Clinton “stole” the election. Although now it makes sense he was so sure Hillary was going to “steal” it------God only knows what he had to do to get Vlad the Impaler to steal it for Trump in the first place.
Meh… it’s not nearly as funny when it’s someone pretending the line came from Trump, if that’s the case. There are so many better jokes one can tell about Trump without pretending he was involved.
I think this is the most likely scenario as well. Trump is staggeringly, dangerously stupid, but I don’t think he’s that illiterate. And I don’t think he has the ability to make a self-deprecating joke. So, by process of elimination, I vote for Luntz making a “Trump is an idiot” joke.
It’s like the joke I heard some time back about University of Nebraska football players thinking the N on their helmets was for Nowledge.
I think its because he doesn’t actually have a sense of humor. He thinks that any absurd exaggeration is a joke.
Reminds of the story about Mark Twain’s wife, who took tp cussing in order to demonstrate to her husband how silly it was. He remarked that she just didn’t know how to swear, she had the lyrics but couldn’t hear the music.

I can all but guarantee that Loser Donald hasn’t put nearly as much thought into it as you have. Everything he says and does is meant to reinforce one of his three core beliefs;
- Donald Trump is very rich
- Donald Trump is very smart
- Everyone loves Donald Trump (including the haters and losers, who are just lying because they’re jealous of Him)
In his mind, bragging about how much SA is paying for those troops (whether it’s true or not) is just proof of how rich, smart, and beloved He is.
