White House lies about first snow of the year. It was 54 degrees in DC on Sunday, yet the White House twitter feed features the first snow of the year. They’re just lying for sport now.
This seems pretty mild - someone could have taken the picture a few days earlier (DC apparently had snow on January 7th) and stuck it on the twitter feed yesterday. I’m not seeing anything on the original tweet that claims or evens implies the picture was taken that day - just that it’s the first snowfall over the White House in 2020. It seems more clumsy than deceptive; a simple header saying “A picture of the first snow of the year, taken earlier this week” would have sufficed.
The twitter replies include a claim that it’s a coded Qanon message and another that it’s a dig at climate change science. I’m not sure how that latter idea actually works but I haven’t understood conservative nonsense for decades.
After Senator Inhofe’s “I have a snowball, therefore global warming isn’t happening” stunt, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this was intended to be about that. But sometimes a picture of snow is just a picture of snow.

At the college football championship game just now, Trump (accompanied by his lovely wife Melania), in a weird spectacle, marched on to the field with an honor guard for the national anthem. I fully expected him to sing.
And yes, he got a big cheer. My respect for New Orleans just fell several notches.

I was thinking - too bad I wasn’t in charge of the pre game. I’d be, “Mr President, you should sing the anthem! People come to me, and they say, sir, you need the President to sing! No one would sing the anthem like he can.”
