I’ve been assured by Very Smart People that Trump knows everything about this so-called “virus”.

I mean, just read the statesman like knowledge he recently bestowed upon the nation:

As I said elsewhere, everything he says (or tweets) is: incoherent, or malicious, or truly false, or, more likely, some combination of the three. Trying to parse the meaning, upon which he himself has the shakiest grasp, is an exercise in futility. Chortle, roll your eyes or weep at his utterances, but then just walk away, for along the road to making sense of it lies madness.

Yes, it’s called therapeutic vaccination, administered on patients who are already infected. I doubt Trump has even a wikipedia-level understanding of this, though, or any interest in acquiring one.

A person who was “very pleased” with Trump’s handling of the outbreak echoed the president’s claim that the media is inciting “fear and panic.” Another said she doesn’t “trust anything the Democrats do or say,” another of Trump’s contentions about the virus.

This country is doomed. I really don’t see a way forward.

I had a Facebook friend (ok, ok it was my cousin) post how this was all overblown and that the coronavirus can’t be a legitimate problem because it’s nothing new. What was her proof? A picture of a Lysol can that shows it can kill coronavirus. “Wake up people,” she posted. “This is nothing new! It’s just the media trying to make Trump look bad! If this was just suddenly some big new problem, how come it’s mentioned on a Lysol can I bought over a year ago?”
