I am deeply deeply skeptical that Trump has ever said anything admonishing to a Republican governor.
Next time you see a commercial that says “we’re all in this together” consider that it should go on to say: “except Georgia, who says “fuck all y’all.”
The only reason for that is because of his supporters (you know, morons) demanding that the nation not be closed down, to Hell with the danger, which they continue to believe is a hoax because he said it was way back when.
Yeah. No doubt the plan didn’t include glowing praise of the jackass in the White House.
I wonder if he went on a bizarre rant about South Korea “not paying enough” for US troops stationed there yet again, after he’d previously demanded they quintuple their contribution. And then he’s refused the deal his negotiating team had come to with South Korea’s team. Of course, that had negative consequences, such as about half of the ROK civilian employees of the USFK being placed on unpaid furlough indefinitely when there’s a fucking pandemic so it’s not like they can go find other employment at the moment. And yet, that country is helping the United States out.
Trump is no businessman, no negotiator, no clever politician. He’s just a son of a bitch.
You’re right, in that Trump is not driven by pure partisanship. As far as I can tell, his criteria for getting on his List of Approved Governors is:
1 Praise him
2 Move towards re-opening sooner rather than later (Trump’s #1 priority is the economy and he doesn’t give 2 shits who has to die)
3 Don’t push back on his supply-chain racket
Maryland violated #3. But Georgia has done all of the above. So I think Trump is just throwing Kemp under the bus (publicly) to make it look like he actually cares about his 3-phase approach to normalcy.
All he wants is a little peace in the world.

(Actually, for all his faults, Donny is hardly a land-grabbing international adventurer, so this wonderful song from To Be or Not to Be doesn’t fit well, but I couldn’t resist.)
Because they came here as very young children/infants. Do you seriously think they knew the law and had any control over coming here? They’re American in every sense except being citizens. DACA allows them to remain here legally as long as they meet certain conditions. They’re more deserving of college than rich families that falsify records so their worthless offspring can steal a space.
Amazing. The OrangeAnus (R - Impeached) spends weeks egging on states to reopen, and when a few states begin to comply (I’m looking at you, Georgia), The OrangeAnus (R - Impeached) back-pedals.
Say, Governors of red states? Don’t think that Traitor Trump has your back:
Look, I have maintained enough detachment that I can look at the global situation and concede that this situation is a disaster for every nation, no matter what kind of government they have. Yes, we could have done better here, less people could have died, but this was going to hit us no matter who was sitting in the Big Chair.
All right. But then I look at this hydroxychlorolquine situation and my detachment dissolves into being pissed off. Trump owns a stake in Sanofi, the maker of the drug. He went on TV to promote it repeatedly, before any research had been done on it. Now some results are coming in, and it turns out More COVID patients die if you give them this drug compared to just leaving them alone.
So, in the midst of a pandemic that I estimate will kill ~400k Americans before it is through, Trump took the opportunity to sell poisonous snake oil. I can forgive human imperfection, but God fucking damn it, that is downright evil
