Both told the press yesterday that the decision to fire Comey was really based on the Deputy AG’s and Sessions’ advice about Comey’s improper actions and what they reported about the loss of confidence in him by the rank and file at the FBI. Trump himself quickly chimed in directly, saying that he intended to fire Comey before even talking to Sessions or the Deputy AG. When asked to explain the contradiction, Sanders basically said she only said what she said originally because she was operating on the info she had at the time (basically lies).
To paraphrase someone else, both she and Spicey act like they should not possibly be expected to speak for the president or communicate his intent when their entire job is to speak for the president and communicate his intent.
