The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

If forced to bet, I’d bet that statue is fairly accurate. (Though I’d guess Trump has put on a few more pounds since it was created.)

What bothers her is that she’s right there on camera saying NOTHING as Trump spouts genuinely-dangerous nonsense.

Birx’s posturing of being Concerned about “the news cycle” is pure defensiveness. She knows she’s trashed her own reputation.

These people all fall into the trap of believing they can Make a Difference by remaining in place; all they end up doing is legitimizing the crazy.

If she had stood up and said “That’s bullshit” she would have been fired by Trump as she will be anyway, but could have written her own ticket.

She lost all credibility with me a few weeks ago, when she told the press how deeply Trump studied the technical reports. I don’t know, maybe she needs a new swimming pool or something.

It’s just amazing to me how otherwise intelligent people keep supporting Trump. I saw Chris Christie on a Sunday morning show the other day, and even he’s still carrying water for Trump, after he got absolutely nothing for his embarrassing ass-kissing during the campaign. Unless maybe Trump killed any further investigations into Bridgegate.

Or, more likely, killed them temporarily----holding the possibility of resumption over Christie’s head. (Though I suppose the statute of limitations on abuse-of-office would factor in.)

And let’s not forget the enablers in the Senate as well.

Mike Larsen is a Dem trying to knock off Jim Jordan this year, so he’d have my support no matter what. But his tweet yesterday sealed the deal:

“Say what you will about Donald Trump, but injecting bleach and shining sunlight up our butts is the most detailed Republican replacement for Obamacare I’ve heard so far.”

I wonder what he’d have done if she’d simply started to giggle uncontrollably, shaking her head, and then finally stood up, looked him straight in the eye and said, “You’re out of your fucking mind,” and walked out of the room.

Political cartoonist Michael De Adder just posted another cartoonist’s work where the caption said, “Stop – that Trump cartoon you came up this morning just happened.” And he said, “this literally just happened to me.”

Really, that’s what all the reporters should do, too. Just call his bullshit out and walk away. Everyone should do that, and just leave the child alone with no one to listen to his bullshit anymore.

One problem with that: George Wallace was a Democrat.

Here’s an interesting article on Steve Mnuchin. Especially interesting is how he earned his nickname ‘Foreclosure King’ circa 2009: He propelled himself to great wealth by illegally evicting homeowners, apparently relying on the difficulty and expense of pursuing financial crimes, especially with the big backlog of potential prosecutions during that crisis.

This happened to cartoonist Dan Perkins (AKA Tom Tomorrow). Here’s his entry from today (April 27 2020):

The Democrats of that era have morphed into today’s Republicans. But you knew that already, right?

Are you old enough to remember when the Solid South (Democrats) became Republican?

How faithless and fickle il Doofus is!

Right, but he never completely morphed. Best he could manage was going Independent, ergo applying “the Republican Party has been taken over by an unscrupulous populist demagogue” to George Wallace is a misleading statement.

Racist demagogue bomb-throwers can be found everywhere, and can put any letter after their name.

But a key difference between the two: Wallace ran for President as an independent; Trump has taken over the Republican party.

ETA: Ninja’d, to some extent. I think the point is valid that Wallace and Trump are clones in terms of their priorities and behavior. The difference is in their relationship to their respective parties.

No argument there. I’m just saying that the opening paragraph, particularly the first sentence, is a trick.

Right, to the extent that 45 has priorities beyond grift and power, they are racism and xenophobia. Policies beyond this are fungible and can be discarded selectively tweet by tweet.

There aren’t a lot of good things to say about George Wallace, but I think we can say that he probably wasn’t a crooked grifter con man.

How is the brain bleach to be administered? Orally, rectally, subcutaneously, or topically over my pupils? I looked that the photo, so I need an answer immediately.

BTW, I happen to have nine quarts of 6% bleach for which I have no need, so if any Trumpists need some to drink, they are welcome to purchase from me, but they will have to provide their own containers and getting it across the border will be their problem, for I’m not shipping a dangerous good to a country that has already pegged mine as a national security risk.
