The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

With tears in their eyes.

Trump has been social distancing before it was cool. The problem is, he’s always been social distancing from the truth.

There’s distancing, and then there’s straight up divorce.

Pretty darn hard to divorce someone you have never met.

You know they come from Arabs, right?
…ump: Katie, she tested very good for a long period of time and then all of the sudden today she tested positive… This is why the whole concept of tests aren’t necessarily great
Individual 1 was going batshit crazy today with the conspiracy theories.

Okay, I laughed.

I swear to god, Trump is fuzzy on the whole disease thing, and what exactly the tests do.

On Twitter I saw something like (paraphrasing because I don’t recall the exact tweet):

Kind of puts Trump’s moronic failure to understand the “concept of tests” in a new perspective.

Pence is self isolating.
Bloomberg - Are you a robot??

Defective airport screenings maybe causing another spike in cases? Bah, as long as people can get going places again!

But one of those quick three-day isolation attempt thingies that only the great shiny-faced ones like Mr. Pence can pull off. Hopefullly a Cone of Silence-like contraption was involved. (“Sorry, chief”)

Was gonna post about it earlier, but encountered articles like this (further updated) CNN one, with this somewhat flimsy offering:

Not doing a full self-quarantine? Another one of those DeLuxe Three-dayers, starting tomorrow, and then see what way the wind blows? Looks like His Boss’s “we’ll see what happens” mantra might be a fave of MP’s.

Could be a stalling maneuver. Give a three day window of explanation for his absence and hope that he doesn’t get unacceptably dead.

Hmm. Now that we mention it, what are the Constitutional hindrances to naming Jared Kushner as VP? Does he need formal Senate approval or just Ivanka’s OK?

If the Senate doesn’t approve Kushner, Trump will just name him as acting Vice President.

Awwww, poor baby!

Watching the response to this whole thing is like watching a slow-motion disaster. It’s evidence that this country is in a state of decline.

And COVID-19 is nothing compared to what looms on the horizon with global climate change catastrophe. We’re talking about aquifers running out of water, massive crop failures, storm surges that wipe out swaths of major metropolitan areas along the coast lines, and more immediately, a wet bulb problem.

At a time when we need global cooperation, we have the world’s most powerful nation (for now anyway) self-isolating, not because of coronavirus, but because it is deluding itself into believing it can sustain itself and its standard of living by itself. This is how World War Three will eventually get started. And what a war it will be.

Either that, or covid-19 and the resulting economic fallout wakes up the US, which gets its act together for the catastrophes coming down the pike (because there will always be something on it’s way, the universe doesn’t stop Doing Stuff).

Yes, I’m an optimist.

But I’m not going to hold my breath, because while I am hopeful I also have a large dose of realist as well.

Well, the first step is to replace the current administration.

It’s great to see that his priorities are in the right place as he retweets from his Los Angeles golf club:
