It is an ongoing project. The conspirators have been paying police officers to hurt and kill black people in the most outrageous scenarios they can contrive, with the hope that eventually one of them would result in a fiasco that would cause the ShitGibbon to lose his shit. A large number of black men have given up their lives in unimaginable ways toward this end.
Maybe George Soros is paying Donald Trump to do a terrible job as President in order to discredit the Trump administration.
No. That’s a labor of love. Love of himself for Trump, that is.
A co-worker who is in the Trump camp was spewing the nonsense about the protesters being paid by George Soros, so I asked him to clarify this; how does that work exactly? And where do I sign up for a check? He just walked away.
I hear a lot of that.
Meme going around on Facebook these days: “Anyone who’s ever been a project manager knows the difficulty of more than two people keeping a secret, or getting more than ten people focused in the same direction. Conspiracy theorists are just so darn cute.”
I have yet to hear anyone tell me how to get a paycheck from George Soros, and in most cases, give me a coherent explanation of precisely how any of what George Soros is supposedly doing is supposed to benefit George Soros.
He’s just a great nebulous thing of eeeeeevil, you know?
I don’t think that Trump contaminated the swabs. From what I read, the plant wasn’t even supposed to be running that day and the whole visit was just a photo op. They weren’t producing the swabs under their usual sterile conditions.
Please, oh please, oh please, let this become the next big conspiracy theory. Donald Trump as a crisis actor in the employ of George Soros in order to undermine the presidency (sic) of Donald Trump is just too wonderful. I will contribute a thousand dollars to antifa, if Alex Jones takes up this cause.
Consider that stolen.
A week ago, during my weekly FaceTime with my Trump-supporting dad (who also suffers from early stages of dementia), he asked me if I knew who George Soros was. I tentatively said, “yeah.” He said “He’s evil. He funds these rioters.” I asked, “Why in the heck would he do that?” He said, “Because he’s evil. Why would these people be rioting otherwise?” I said, “Well they’re *protesting *because they’re upset at the way police treat black people, and they’re angry about the brutal death of George Floyd.” He said, “How often does this police stuff even happen?” I said, “All the time. It only makes the news when asshole cops get caught on camera.” He said, “Well I don’t want to talk politics.”
This is a man who was a solid liberal in his younger days, smart as a whip, informed on the issues, kind and generous. He voted McGovern, Mondale, Carter, Dukakis, Clinton…But this is what moving to South Carolina, surrounding yourself in the evangelical community there, plus a 20-hour-per-day dose of conservative TV and radio will do to a person.
And Soros truly has become the boogedy man for the right. It’s like his name just drips off their lips in frothing anger.
ETA: And I hesitate to add because it puts my dad squarely in the bad camp, but our country is quickly shifting away from right wing/left wing to raging asshole/everyone else.
Just today I got one about him being behind the Catalanist independence movement. Apparently he’s got financial interests in four of the companies whose owners signed pro-indepencence manifestos (i.e., funds he’s involved in have invested in those companies).
Four of the dozens of companies… and dude’s got investments on top of investments, I’m reasonably sure a bit of digging will find out that there’s “Soros’ financial interests” in multiple companies whose owners did not sign any political manifestos, and in others whose owners signed “catexit is stupid” manifestos, and in companies from one Pole to the other, but hey, yeah, let’s come up with conspiracies by which a bunch of loudmouths who’ve been loudmouths for their whole lifes would not have been loudmouths unless some dude paid them for it.
Authoritarians cannot understand anyone taking initiative on their own, or that actual grassroots movements can happen.
They take sides on issues based entirely on what their superiors tell them today. They do nothing without marching orders or pay. Since they think everyone is the same as they are they need to find the ultimate leader of the liberals.
Why they settled on Soros is unknown to me.
Oh, just post on here.
Didn’t you know, we are all auditioning for a job?
If Soros likes what he sees he’ll assign us a position in Antifa leadership.
Could it be because he’s Irish? Oh wait… he isn’t.
I’m not a fan of Soros’s opinions myself, but I can’t deny that there’s a strong tinge of antisemitism in the right’s focus on him.
I think this is the key.
Conservatives don’t want to admit that their political opponents have sincere feelings about the causes they advocate. That would be an uncomfortable truth. That means they hold their beliefs just as strongly as you hold yours. And if that’s the case, how do you know which strongly held beliefs are the right ones? What if their beliefs are the right ones? What if my beliefs aren’t the right ones? Oh God, what if I’m wrong!
It’s much more comfortable to cynically believe that the only reason people are disagreeing with you is because somebody is paying them to do so. Everyone knows what’s right but some people pretend they don’t believe it because they’re getting paid to lie. Your beliefs are honest. You’re a better person than they are. Yes, that’s much more pleasant.
I had a better one pop into my head yesterday.
We should start a rumor that Donald Trump is incontinent. He wears adult diapers. That’s why he always wears loose suits; it’s to conceal the diaper outline.
It’s a great metaphor; the idea that he is literally spewing shit the same way that he figuratively spews shit.
It’s a great conspiracy theory. It puts out the story that Trump has a secret that he is hiding. What’s he going to do? Deny he’s wearing diapers? Sure, that’s exactly what he’d say if he was hiding the fact that he’s wearing diapers.
And it’s plausible enough to make people wonder. If they start thinking about it, they’re going to see evidence to support it. And the mere fact that they’re thinking about whether Trump is standing in his own shit, takes their minds off from whatever he’s saying.
Part of that is the slow and agonizing death of the “intellectual” right, the honest conservative case has eroded. “Socialism is bad because it won’t work”, rather than its bad because it distributes power and wealth more equally. All socialized medicine, for instance, must necessarily follow the dismal path of Soviet medicine. Harder to make that case as it became more clear that it is so much more efficient and humane.
More and more, I become convinced that conservatism is more a personality type than a set of carefully considered opinions.
And it explains why he needs 10 flushes to get his diapers down the drain.
Yes, this is the same reason that the conservatives I talk to have fixated on the idea that the reason liberals advocate for assistance to minorities and the poor, isn’t due to our wanting to help them, because we want to make them dependent on our largess so we can control them. By the tough love of fucking them over repeatedly, the conservatives show that they are the ones who really care about the little guy.
I also think the idea that someone might want to do something for unselfish motives is so foreign to them that they assume that there must be an ulterior selfish one.
And by fucking them over while claiming to be color blind, they also show that it is the liberals who are the real racists for pointing it out.
TBCF, the middle/left had Dick Armey/Koch Brothers as the embodiment of evil, along with Rupert Ailes, for much of the past decade. Though, the connections there seemed considerably more substantive.
