The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

From what I’ve seen his supporters post elsewhere, they’d be happy to take a bullet for him if the opportunity presented itself. A waiver promising not to sue him if they get sick isn’t going to make them think twice; they’ll happily sign, regardless of the health risk.

Hell, the way some of them go on, it’s almost as if they’d be glad to pay him if they got sick.

Once again, not the brightest idea. If they get infected, they come back and infect others.

Well, its official. As of 6:24 Straight Dope time, Trump has been more of a clusterfuck in a short 3 years 6 months and 6 days, than the entire Republican party has been merely stupidin all of 11 years 2 months and 16 days.

This of course doesn’t include all of the other Trump oriented threads.

That certainly bears repeating.

It DOES!

Agreed. I don’t really care if they spread it to redneck granny and pappy, but they’ll also be spreading it to the mail carrier and the pizza delivery driver. Those last two will come to my house, and I’ll be goddamned if I’ll let some Make America Sick Again bozo take me out like that.

Here’s a video that plays trump’s idiotic comments at the Dallas roundtable about how “beautiful” it was to see the National Guard cutting through protesters “like butter”, intercut with scenes of police and the guard brutally dealing with protesters. It’s pretty damning and should be played on media outlets everywhere constantly until the election:

#UglyPresident

California and Vermont were also independent countries. Not sure if they were shit holes, however. Oh, and Hawaii.

The problem, solost, is that, IMHO, a lot of the trumpeters will enjoy that video and be even more convinced how wonderful their hero is.

Oh yes, absolutely. As I’ve said a couple times in trump-related posts, at this point he seems to be going all in to fire up and lock down his hateful racist base, and hope enough other more moderate, typically Republican voters shrug their shoulders at the voting booth and say “eh, at least he’s not a Democrat”. He can’t win with just his hardcore base. That video is for all the other voters.

I started saying that in early 2019. In the 2016 Presidential election the breakdown (roughly) was 1/3 voted for Trump, 1/3 for Clinton, and 1/3 didn’t vote at all. Nothing the Democrats are willing to do will woo the Trump supporters – they need to go after the Apathy party vote.

In 2016 you thought your vote didn’t matter and the last four years was the result. Yes! Your vote counts.

Ah. Sorry, I was misinformed.

Another possible reason for trump to be firing up his hardcore base so much is to intimidate potential Biden voters into staying home. I don’t know how realistic this scenario actually is, but I’ve heard talk of armed trump supporters possibly taking up posts just outside voting precincts to scare Biden voters off, especially voters of color. Is that crazy or could that actually be the America we’re living in now? I mean, not that long ago my state’s Capitol building was overrun with armed trump supporters protesting the lockdown.

Reading the online commentary (I think it was on Facebook’s NPR story): the MAGA commentary seems to be saying that Antifa has cordoned off 7 square blocks of Seattle and declared an independent no-police-allowed state, or something like that.

If this is what Fox is reporting, then it explains what set Trump off. Does anyone know what is actually going on in Seattle (ie, is there any tiny morsel of truth-like-information there)?

BTW, a friend from Dallas texted me that admission to the fund-raising luncheon in Dallas was $580,600 PER COUPLE. Only 12-15 people were expected to attend, I guess so they can socially distance themselves from the Democrat HOAX virus thingie.

I wonder what the significance of 5 8 0 6 0 0 is? Any specialists in Satanic numerology on the board?

BTW, re the “law enforcement roundtable”:

A prior commitment to throw up, most likely.

Miller giving a speech on race relations is just to setup Ivanka’s speech on nepotism.

Actually, it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to start naming military bases after enemy leaders that we defeated.

I could get behind that.

Trump is a classic populist authoritarian personality.

He’s doing what his instincts tell him to do because “it worked” in the past, so there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work again.

But sometimes, as in the case of Charlotte, and as he did last week, he overplays his hand and goes too far.

Trump will not change because Trump needs love and adulation, and his base of radicals give it to him. He’s not going to change because if he abandons them and begins to moderate and self-regulate, he will lose that base of support. They are loyal to him, and in turn, he is loyal to them.

This is why I don’t think he will go quietly and just accept a defeat at the polls, either. Trump knows that his base of totally tasteless people would have no problem rigging the election or declaring the results invalid if the numbers indicate that he lost.

That’s also why it was so incredibly important that the former generals spoke out and challenged him. They saw what he was doing: Trump was doing a trial run. Trump was testing the waters to see “what would happen if…” What would happen if he tried to turn the military against critics. Fortunately, “his generals” have put up some barriers. This is what 'resistance" really means.

Would be better just to name them after presidents, as we do with vessels, or we could just name them after locations.
