I have. It doesn’t change my opinion. There is nothing in the tweets that says “I improperly revealed classified information” - not unless one is afflicted with the Trump Derangement Syndrome. As many on this board obviously are.
The Derangement Syndrome is actually with those who think Trump can do/has done no wrong.
That includes the deliberately obtuse.
He essentially said “I properly revealed classified information”. It’s entirely reasonable to disagree with that assertion and assert that it was improper and puts allies and assets at risk.
Would you honestly be giving Obama as many breaks if he did something like this? Dude, he revealed information obtained by a third party nation without their consent. In addition, the Russians now know who that third party is. Now let’s suppose you’re the head of intelligence for that third party. Do you suppose you’d be less willing to share intelligence with the US, knowing that dipstick is going to feed it right to the Kremlin?
Last nite - the WH admin was busily sayhing he did not disclose antyhing (well, very very specific things).
Today - Trump is saying ‘he had the right to disclose the info he did’.
While those two sets of facts are not necessarily in conflict - Trump has no reason to defend disclosing things that are not sensitive - which then makes the implications that -
a) his staff still don’t know what to say to the press
b) that he did disclose sensitive information
As BobLibDem says. Step back for just a second and think about what you’re saying. Would you honestly have the same response if it were Hillary or Obama caught up with exactly the same sort of scandal? I sure as shit would be pissed and wanting an explanation if Hillary or Obama were revealing codeword intelligence.
I’m guessing that, no, you would not put up with this shit from Obama or Hillary or any other Democrat. So why here?
You’re right. We don’t yet have all the information. As noted Conservative Erick Ericson claims based on his own information, it’s possible that it’s much worse than currently being reported.
It’s very darkly funny but these recent events have made me believe it’s very unlikely that Trump was personally involved in any sort of nefarious conspiracy with the Russians or anyone else. (Some of his associates, on the other hand, are still shady as hell, and have probably been manipulating him from here to Timbuktu.) Can you imagine this asshole being involved with, say, Russian intelligence to strategically release e-mails from the DNC hack? He’d be on Twitter, “You wouldn’t believe the “sources” I’ve got, really great totally secret agreement with best oaths to never tell. Believe me.”
Because Trump is The Messiah.
And you know this how? Because anonymous sources told you so?
Trump said he did.
That doesn’t mean that Trump supporters will believe him.
*"President Donald Trump has said the real reason he fired James Comey from the FBI was because of the bureau’s investigation into links between Trump’s 2016 campaign associates and Russia. But that doesn’t seem to have gotten through to the majority of Republican voters.
Nearly two-thirds (63 percent) of Republicans still believe the White House’s first rationale for Comey’s firing — that the FBI director was dismissed for poorly handling the investigation into Hillary Clinton emails — according to a recent public poll from NBC and the Wall Street Journal. Overall, 38 percent of Americans still believe Clinton’s emails were behind the firing, according to the poll conducted from May 11 to 13."*
Trump the businessman has already greatly increased at least one aspect of government efficiency – he cut out the middleman of private servers, and is providing classified information directly to foreign representatives. No need for expensive and time consuming hacking!
Yep. And in doing so, he threw everyone under the bus again:
As I said. Trump Derangement Syndrome. Makes you see things that are not there.
Once again: Same story. Same anonymous sources. Instead of Trump, substitute Clinton or Obama. Is your reaction the same?
Of course not. Just like your reaction would not be the same if it was reversed. Or are you pretending to be non-partisan?
You have to get with the talking points, as they have evolved. It’s no longer “Trump didn’t discuss confidential information with the Russians”.
It’s now:
“Trump can disclose whatever he wants for any reason”
Trump has even thrown you under the bus and you’re too stupid to realize it.
My reaction would be the same. I’d be demanding an explanation.
