“Studies and evidence” that Spicer declined to name or elaborate on. Basically, Trump just believes a bunch of crap fed to him by God knows who, and we are now supposed to simply believe him with no evidence whatsoever. Trump is calling into question the basic functioning of the entire electoral process based on… absolutely nothing but the wish fulfilment of his tiny little ego.

Alternate facts seem so quaint now.

What is the point (other than the obvious, of course) of marking a date that has already passed? Are we supposed to go in our Wayback Machines and act more patriotic this time?

I think you’re reading that wrong. The linked cite from Gasparino’s Facebook post says that some people he calls “anarchist thugs” approached him and Baio outside the ball and started screaming at them, but except for a bit of shoving (on Gasparino’s part) and threats (both sides) nothing happened.

Then Gasparino claims that inside the ball venue there was a fistfight between two guys in tuxes—nothing to do with Scott Baio, AFAICT—and Conway joined in, just as your first link claimed. (In fact, it appears that both cites base their report on the same Facebook post by Gasparino, which seems to be the only source for this story so far.)

If KellyAnne had still been wearing her inauguration uniform, she could have broken up the fight with her musket.

In fairness, Alternative Sean didn’t lie. He said Trump believes there was voter fraud, and that Trump says there was voter fraud. Which may, in fact, be the case, so what he said is probably a true statement about someone else lying.

We just had to give Comical Sean a few days to get into the groove of referring to lies without actually saying lies himself. However, I’;d say this constitutes a lie for Trump for January 24, so we’re four days into his Presidency and he’s already filled his “Lie Card” that gets him a free 6" sandwich at participating Subways.

Of course, Trump can’t actually abolish the scientific method itself: he can simply direct his administrators to impede and ignore it as much as they can in the workings of US scientific agencies. George W. Bush did the same, with considerable success.

The news just gets worse about how politics has trumped [no pun intended] science throughout the current White House administration’s tenure. Pick a topic–embryonic stem cells, global warming, mercury levels in the environment–and on each one, this administration has denied science when it interfered with the president’s ideology.

Now the former surgeon general, Richard Carmona, who held office from 2002 to 2006, is telling Congress in considerable detail how he was muzzled on everything from stem cells and sex education to a report on secondhand smoke. He was also told to mention President Bush at least three times on each page of every speech, and was directed to give speeches in support of Republican candidates. […]

On issue after issue, Dr. Carmona asserted, the Bush administration made decisions about important public health issues based solely on political considerations, not scientific ones.

“I was told to stay away from those because we’ve already decided which way we want to go,” Dr. Carmona said.

He described attending a meeting of top officials in which the subject of global warming was discussed. The other officials concluded that global warming was a liberal cause and dismissed it, he said. […]

Inevitably, facts have a nasty habit of being, well, real–for example, the fact that abortions do not cause breast cancer, despite a government website that kept making this claim against all scientific evidence. Or that carbon-dioxide levels in the atmosphere are rapidly rising. […]

This is what is revealing about Carmona’s testimony to the Senate yesterday, which paints a picture of a surgeon general who was essentially told to ignore reality on many issues. For instance, he was simply told not to mention scientific studies that questioned a sex-education policy that relies solely on abstinence. […]

This kind of politicization of science is what the Republican establishment now considers normal when they’re in charge of the government. They are resentful that facts and reason tend to have a partisan bias towards Democratic positions, and they refuse to let facts or reason get in the way of pushing their own agenda.
