If it weren’t for that I’d assume you’re a fucking sockpuppet. I’m kind of shocked a troll stuck around that long.
Go away lying troll. Your ahistorical bullshit isn’t welcome here.
David Duke was a republican.
"The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican. He opposed affirmative action. He grew so radical near the end of his life that he considered renouncing nonviolence.
Which of those statements are true?
None of them. They’re all bogus.
The idea that King was a Republican is built on a historical sleight of hand. King’s father, the Rev. Martin Luther “Daddy” King Sr., was a Republican. But so were many blacks in the early to mid-20th century. Then the Republican Party was the party of Abraham Lincoln, the Great Liberator. That party identification, though, started shifting in the mid- to late 20th century as Democratic presidents began championing civil rights.
(Daddy King publicly shifted allegiance to the Democrats when President John F. Kennedy displayed public sympathy for his son.)
Legum, in an essay for ThinkProgress, cited a 1958 interview where King said, “I’m not inextricably bound to either party.”
King, though, was particularly critical of the Republican Party’s selection of Barry Goldwater, an archconservative, as its 1964 presidential candidate.
King worked closely with President Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat, to help spur the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act, two critical civil rights laws championed by Johnson. When Johnson ran for president in 1964, King let the public know which party he preferred, Legum says.
“He was basically campaigning for Johnson in 1964,” Legum says of King "
I find it more and more amusing that the lefties on this site use vulgarity to make their claims.
The left is the party of hate, violence, and casual ignorance. I can’t feel hate for you - who have been educated by a disgusting generation of drug addled liberal morons - because in the end you don’t have the courage to seek the truth.
“You guys are so vulgar! Just what I’d expect from hateful, violent, cowardly, drug-addled morons.”
truth + vulgarity > civility + falsehoods
imho
obviously, ymmv
David Duke was a Democrat. When he tried to run as a Republican, he was shove to the side as the racist idiot he is/was.
Was just thinking the other day about how our fragmented media culture has put us in this mess and has also made it hard to climb out. Every time I open Google News feed it’s always got the usual crap of late night TV hosts roasting Trump or one of his aides, which is fine, but it shouldn’t even remotely be competing with hard news. That’s why it’s been remarkably easy for the Trump to make the “fake news” label stick. A lot of ordinary folk, and not necessarily just conservatives either, look at news as just another form of entertainment that’s on TV. The issues that people talk about might be serious but the delivery can’t be taken seriously; thus, the information itself tends not to be taken seriously.
I think Trump is a lot closer than people realize to pulling off a successful heist of Democracy in America. Well, actually, Putin is, too, when I come to think of it. Everything that’s been happening lately is straight out of a Putin playbook. Misdirect. Misinform. Confuse. Sabotage institutions and make people lose faith in them, or at least question whether they function as they were intended. Pretty soon, ordinary people who consider themselves to be libertarian democrats seeking the truth begin to question whether the truth will ever be truly known. Indifference is ultimately the brain death of democracy.
And he can’t code properly. Half the stuff in the quote box is his incoherent response to my post.
This is so far removed from reality it can’t even be rebutted. It’s just a bunch of right-wing boogymen (plus, oddly, the Waltons, who have always been major Republican donors apart from one small one to Clinton’s campaign) piled into a big pile of paranoid nonsense.
The ones his supporters beat up.
He really isn’t. This is another complete delusion. You are projecting based on what Trump does.
Yes, deaths and bankruptcy. Of the sort that were far more prevalent in America before ACA and which still continue thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Republicans.
A desperate attempt to distract from the paucity of your argument.
Well, apart from the literally months of hearings and committee meetings with Republicans. But I realize that your misunderstanding of the situation comes from your chosen newsbubble repeating a small fragment of what Nancy Pelosi said (which, luckily for you, consisted entirely of one-syllable words) in order to lead to a view which, again, has fuck-all to do with reality.
Mind you, the Republicans are currently trying to “force” the AHCA bill, devised in a hurry behind closed doors while deliberately shutting out the Democrats, through the Senate, despite it having only 17% approval (including only 35% amongst Republicans). That’s probably what you’re thinking of.
More projection.
“Shoved to the side” being a well-known Louisiana euphemism for “elected to the state legislature.”
Do you Lefties know anything but lies and hate? You claim that people who accept a religion are incapable of thinking otherwise, but you are the ones who cling to your hate, casual racism, disgust for alternate ideas.
You think you are the only people who are capable of kindness, empathy, generosity, legitimate love (ie two adults of whatever orientation just wanting to spend their lives together - and don’t think that what they do together in private is a matter for social converse or something that is the government’s business or a matter of politics), or just the basic idea of neighborliness? You aren’t. You are the assholes who, because you are incapable of actually talking to your neighbors, send whiny bullshit complaints to the local government because your neighbor’s (who you don’t know and have never tried to know because -in the end you are all judgemental assholes) lawn is one eighth inch longer than the local code.
David Duke made it to the runoff for governor as a Republican. He won a race to the Louisiana statehouse as a Republican. And, of course, he heartily endorsed and supports Trump.
Why do you keep lying? Or are you just this stupid?
I take it you didn’t serve in the military like I did, where I learned that people from all kinds of backgrounds, with all kinds of political beliefs, can be decent people and patriots. It’s probably good that you didn’t serve, considering what a lying asshole you appear to be.
Person complaining about how the other side doesn’t “know anything but lies and hate” writes multiple posts filled with nothing but lies and hate. Self-awareness - needs work.
But hey, let’s consider the polite and truth-oriented right-wing. Here we find such honest and honorable folk as Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, James O’Keefe, Dick Cheney, Steve Bannon and of course President Trump himself (although Trump is less “right-wing” and more a wing unto himself). All of these are well-known for their impeccable record of scrupulous honesty and deportment.
Hey, Melania, how’s your campaign against cyber-bullying coming along? You don’t even have to leave your house to get started.
All the same, Duke was a Republican.
Whereas MLK never was one.
Sorry to have distracted you from the topic at hand.
My apologies.
But this does underline the previous poster’s assertion that some of your posts are, at best, ahistorical.
Just an fyi for you to think on if you care to.
How many pages are we going to waste feeding this one?
had to block the emma fish troll, now could y’all please reconsider if it needs quoting?
thanks!
it can be both lying and stupid, obviously
Until it explodes, like Mr. Creosote. We’re already at the “bucket” stage, judging by the spew.
