The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

Note that Bannons’ goal is to basically burn the country down.

Unfortunately, last time I checked, the federal officials in the executive branch work for Trump. Most of them are not constitutional lawyers.

I’m really curious what topics discussed by the NSC would not involve the expertise and responsibilities of the military or intelligence community.

What is needed is something to take care of both the “just following orders excuse” and the “not constitutional lawyers” excuse – a judicial ruling containing language to the effect of:

“What you are doing is not only illegal, but so clearly and grossly illegal as to fall outside your role as a federal agent. Therefore, if you are still doing it in 24 hours, you will be treated as a private citizen guilty of kidnapping, and subject to arrest and incarceration accordingly.”

(The actual language would probably be explicit in pointing out that both state and federal kidnapping laws would apply, which would allow the option of the state to conduct the arrest and negate Pumpkinhead’s pardon power for the case.)

Oh, golly. I haven’t seen this before.

For comparison, read up on Lenin’s program to undermine Kerensky’s “liberal” parliament and screw his socialist allies. Bannon did, and took notes.

Here’s the deal: the people who work for DHS are civil servants who follow rules and instructions. They are public employees whose work is directed ultimately by the president and his subordinates.

The president and his various agents actually do have fairly wide discretion to admit or deny the entry of aliens into the country. It just has to be done in a manner that is prescribed by law and consistent with the Constitution. Not allowing someone in from a war zone without extensive vetting is not unconstitutional. Saying that we’re going to permit Christians and not Muslims, however, most likely is.

I suspect certain parts of the ‘ban’ will be upheld while others will be stricken and later modified.

And that was back in August. Back in September I posted this:

"I think the most likely outcome [for America] is what we see in Arizona in a huuuuuuuge scale. Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been doing a lot of what Trump dreams to do to America, with the nasty result being that his authoritarianism has cost the state close to 50 millions [more than a hundred from other sources] dollars in court costs and defense attorneys. [just make the costs to be proportional this time to the American government]

Mostly paid by the taxpayers of Arizona. Besides the costs for local business due to lost revenue and several not coming to Arizona because of the racial profiling and laws that affect minorities. (It is better now because the federal government did limit the new laws and the reach of the sheriff) those court costs are one big reason why other areas, like investigating rapes, have suffered because of the priorities that many people that vote for the likes of Arpaio like to see.

I can see Trump doing lots of things for all those that voted for him. And so a lot of treasure will be lost with the constant legal fights that a lot of people will bring against Trump when he will make orders that eventually will be declared illegal, or that by the time the courts or the legislative branch react to the underhanded measures of Trump, it will be too late for many.

In essence: what a strange game, the only winning move is not to vote for Trump… and don’t let his hackers get the launching codes either."

I pointed that because Trump and Arpaio decided to join their hips for their campaigns. Arizona ended voting for Trump but was just wise enough to vote Arpaio out. But I do think that the reason was not because Arpaio was a racist. It was because even the conservatives here already knew what a burden he was for the state and that he was also targeting non minorities like the judge in Arpaio’s own racial profiling case.

Arizona was really unwise to ignore the lesson that that close association showed. Tanks to that incredibly close association the writing on the wall was already there; unfortunately, just a bit higher number of voters in the battleground states were not wise.

So the pigfucker is denying asylum to people from Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq, and Somalia even if they work with USA personnel. He actually blocked people who already vetted, and at least one person who was almost fully naturalized.

He’s betraying people who had a contract with us. Pigfucker’s idea of “negotiation.” That’s…criminal.

He’s endangering the troops. Isn’t he? It seems to me to be dangerous. He’s a bad commander-in-chief. Incompetent, even.

Fuck him. I have so many things to be angry about, but this one, this isn’t partisan. This is betraying the troops. But maybe it doesn’t look that way for those who voted for him.

The shit sandwich he’s been feeding those who voted for him (since the primaries) insist it’s peanut butter. Most of them would rather drop dead of cholera than admit to what they’re being fed.

So far. All of the people some of the time, etc.

How could it possibly endanger US troops who are working beside fighters from Iraq or Syria to have Trump not only discriminate against those countries, but to reiterate that he thinks “taking their oil” is a good strategy?

I as well as others used to consider Pence was impeachment insurance. It was a toss-up who would be worse. But after a week or so of Trump, I’d be more than willing to see Pence take over.

Trump administration officials are discussing the possibility of asking foreign visitors to disclose all websites and social media sites they visit, and to share the contacts in their cell phones. If the foreign visitor declines to share such information, he or she could be denied entry.

The press secretary is a got-damn idiot.

Sean Spicer retweets a disparaging article from The Onion, posts “You nailed it!”

I’m hearing on the news now that Rancid Priebus is being empowered to take Trump’s place during meetings of the National Security Council. Guess Trump plans to skip a few of those.

Is it too late to edit the title of this thread? The last three words are no longer needed.

I can’t tell if this is genuine surprise or if you’re being sarcastic because that quote is trotted out whenever Bannon’s name is mentioned.

This Hollywood Reporter interview from November is a rare glimpse into Bannon’s thoughts. Some interesting quotes:

Unfortunately those last three words are still pertinent, because while you may think it’s a clusterfuck now, you ain’t seen nuttin’ yet.

Now they’re saying it’s going to be Steve Bannon taking Trump’s place? Or maybe both? Someone’s even reporting it’s Pence. No one seems to know for sure.

He’s right about one thing. This is as exciting as the 1930s. The players have shuffled around a bit, but I’m definitely getting a 1930s vibe.
