The response will be, I predict, (as it’s a distinction without a moral difference), that threats #1 and #3 were for a presidential candidate, not a president. #2 will require a different type of weaseling though.
Today’s (8/17/17) Signe WIlkonson Editorial cartoon pretty much nails it:
Damn, and I thought this was Infrastructure Week at the White House.
What did you expect Israelis would think? When it comes to building walls and fences, they make Trump look like a piker.
He’s digging as fast as he can.
He needs to shore up his reputation.
There’s talk of building bridges.
No. They won’t even say his name.
When Paul Ryan tweeted this in response to Trump’s pro-hate-group remarks:
…he got a lot of applause. But this is what columnist Charlie Pierce tweeted in reply:
Pierce makes a good argument that this is something Americans need to be demanding of Republicans who try to gain points with abstract generalizations:
I think you mean bunkers.
IIRC they also blamed Obama for various European terrorist incidents. For some reason, they aren’t blaming Trump.

Been calling Cruz and Cornyn’s SA offices every other day or so with yet another reason why they should impeach Donald Trump.
I’ve been doing this for a while and can say that the attitudes of the people answering have… softened… to this. However, the Cruz guy today got a little tense when I said “… and now he has associated the GOP, Lincoln’s party, with that of Hitler and the Nazis. Get rid of him for the good of the GOP.”
Wouldn’t matter - his score is predetermined.
No I don’t think so. That could be interpreted several ways. One way would be die of natural causes. Second is leave office for another reason.
The elected Democrat I am thinking of expressed the wish that Trump is assassinated. In those words.
Just as a li’l bit of info regarding the Trump family in general…
In 1927, Donald Trump’s father was arrested after a Klan riot in Queens
On Memorial Day 1927, brawls erupted in New York led by sympathizers of the Italian fascist movement and the Ku Klux Klan. In the fascist brawl, which took place in the Bronx, two Italian men were killed by anti-fascists. In Queens, 1,000 white-robed Klansmen marched through the Jamaica neighborhood, eventually spurring an all-out brawl in which seven men were arrested.
One of those arrested was Fred Trump [Senior] of 175-24 Devonshire Rd. in Jamaica [New York].
What’s the quote about apples and how far they fall from the tree?
Racism runs in that family.
Twist, twist, twist.
Spin, spin, spin.
And since you’re pretending to be too stupid to search for it.
I don’t care for that argument. Racism runs in my family. I had two grandfathers who were in the KKK, one of which most probably murdered black people.
Let Trump’s own racism speak for itself.
The Trump Slump kicks in!
The S&P 500 posts biggest decline in three months on Washington worries:
Same with the Dow Jones.
I have heard it seriously argued that what might turn the tide against Trump—what might push a lot of Republicans to the point of supporting impeachment—is Trump’s habits of cheating at golf and driving his cart over the green.
C’mon, Republicans. You’re rapidly running out of time to be able to jump ship and pretend that it was a principled stand rather than looking like the rat off a sinking ship that you are.
