In all seriousness, I think this is part of why Trump is dangerous and why he’s been able to get away with so much outrageous behavior for so long. He somehow has become normalized, and that’s one of the dangers: that we get used to him to the point of not taking him seriously anymore.
Reverting to another pit thread that I created, this is why CNN and other networks other than Fox are also, in their own way, just as bad as Fox. And in some ways, they’re even more dangerous because while almost everyone knows that Fox reports with blatant bias, a lot of people expect more nuanced views of the news on CNN. By giving Lord and others a platform, it sends the message that any message that comes from a newsworthy political contender is newsworthy. I don’t care if CNN fired Jeffrey Lord, he never should have been there in the first damn place. Trump should have been shut down in the primaries by and all serious news agencies.
