The only possible spin I can see the current administration putting on this incredibly dangerous/ignorant statement is that (and this is a YUUUUUGGGEEE stretch) it fits Trump’s original “Make America Great Again” narrative.

Sanders wanted the US to be a bit more like Denmark. Trump seems to want it to be more like Russia. I know which one I prefer.
