The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

Well, that, and actual analog clocks are still extremely common. They haven’t gone the way of the rotary phone quite yet.

You and I assume literally every other mod here knows that he’s literally nothing but a lazy troll. Not interesting, insightful, useful, or funny, just boring bullshit that worsens the forum every time he posts (and my forum experience every time some stupid motherfucker quotes him). Just ban the fucker already, christ. It’s not hard. Trolling is still against the rules even in the pit, right?

I wouldn’t miss him. There will always be some other asshole to take his place.

Burn 'em!

Oh their tears are so delicious. I could bathe in an ocean of their tears. Their anguished screams are music to me

The two are not exclusive. In fact, they’re usually correlated.

Delicious!

Cracks me up you used the word “wee” in a thread about Trump.

Best be believing in piss threads, Mr. Monty, urine one.

Yeah, and it’s all about a piss-ant!

Uh, oh, I was wondering what the next tangent would be…

EJ Dionne made an interesting comment during his weekly appearance with David Brooks on NPR. When discussing Trump’s recent dealings with Democrats, Dionne said something like, “Trump seems to view the Democrats as a competing business he can sometimes negotiate with, while he sees Congressional Republicans as bad employees so he treats them with contempt.” (Heard on the radio; I’m probably mangling the quote.) I thought that was probably a pretty good assessmebt of Trump’s thinking, such as it is.

Trying to be an optimist, I find myself agreeing with an opinion piece titled “Five reasons to like President Donald Trump.”

I had a similar thought just after the 2000 election, when the Florida result was too close to call. I thought “This will end gridlock. Here’s an issue that no one saw coming, so people couldn’t choose up sides and dig their trenches in advance and promise no compromises. For all our differences, surely we can all agree that the will and the voice of the voters is sacrosanct. We must count these votes to the most scrupulous and exact standard of accuracy that we can achieve. This isn’t partisan. There’s can’t be liberal and conservative ways to count, can there?”

And we know how that turned out.

Apparently we are not withdrawing from the Paris Accords, except we might still be. Nobody is sure.

It could almost merit its own thread, every time the courts rule against the so called team Trump has assembled. But this is a good place, too. Here’s a ruling, a nationwide injunction, against Sessions and his attempt to withhold funding from American cities. Brought to you by your good friends in Chicago.

“…a federal judge in Chicago on Friday blocked the Trump administration’s rules requiring so-called sanctuary cities to cooperate with immigration agents in order to get a public safety grant.U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber held that Chicago has shown a “likelihood of success” in its arguments that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions exceeded his authority in imposing new standards governing Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants across the country.
He also said Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration has shown the city could suffer “irreparable harm” in its relationship with the immigrant community if it were to comply with the U.S. Department of Justice’s new standards. …”

Here’s another link, Business Insider, hopefully no paywall: Chicago Judge Blocks Jeff Sessions From Denying 'Sanctuary Cities' Grant Funding

Yeah, Business Insider doesn’t do a paywall, but it does block ad blockers.

They’re still assessing how many of Obama’s fingerprints are on it before making a final decision.

There is certainly an argument that sometimes the best way to effect change is to knock down the whole building and start again. The problem here is that the “building” is the entire country, and not only would we all have to live in a building site for decades while it was being rebuilt, we can’t even evacuate the building as it’s being knocked down.

And the guy knocking down the building has no idea how the building was built in the first place, let alone know how to build it better.

Sebastian Gorka may have left the administration, but his wife, who co-writes his papers, is still there, as an adviser to the secretary of homeland security.
