The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

So do I. So say w all.

Uzbeks

So say we all.

In a photo op today, Trump said he would “consider” sending the NY truck-driver terrorist suspect to Guantanamo.

Apparently, NY jails and the federal justice system aren’t working.

I can’t imagine it would be a tough case to prosecute.

Even a Trump-appointed prosecutor should be able to do it.

Get ready for the Cut, Cut, Cut Act!

It’s like when a family gets a puppy and decides to let the four-year-old name it. That’s a risky move.

I’m not sure which part of the story is the most cringe worthy:
[ol]
[li]Apparently the President of the United States has only a trivial role in major tax legislation;[/li][li]The President of the United States thinks the Cut Cut Cut Act is a good name;[/li][li]Congressional Republicans are acting like everything is perfectly normal.[/li][/ol]

I guess we can be thankful it won’t be named the Trump Act.

Spelled with a “K” of course.

I was hoping for the Cutty McTaxFace Act.

slow clap

What else would you expect from one who admits to having the mentality of a grade-schooler?

Trump-appointed proseuctors are the best. You won’t believe how good they are. They’re the most amazing people in the world, trust me.

I guess Trump has never heard the expression “too on the nose”.

“Cut cut cut” isn’t a dog whistle. That’s a freakin’ bullhorn.

For Trump, the information that might be gained from this guy–contacts and influences still out there working to produce more terrorists and terrorist acts–is valueless. What counts is that Trump look like Mr. Tough Guy.

The whole point of sending foreign nationals apprehended outside the US to Guantanamo is to avoid having US Constitutional protections apply to them (although some still do). If the guy is already in the US, most of those rights already apply.

und am Kai geht Mackie Messer
der von allem nichts gewußt

Why would they care if the rights apply? There is exactly zero chance a jury would acquit this guy. Are they just upset they can’t torture him?

Trump surely doesn’t know the legal rationale of why Guantanamo exists. He just knows it’s a Very Bad Place to send bad hombres.

Please excuse the aside, but authorities said the asshole “acted in the name of the self-described Islamic State and had been planning the attack for several weeks.” wtf requires planning in such an attack?

This has baffled me since 2001. If the terrorists are as thick on the ground as the Republican allege, why aren’t there 50 such attacks a day? Since these people seem to have no problem with getting caught or even killed when they carry out attacks, it would be absolutely impossible to stop them.

Anybody could take a couple of handguns into a movie theater and kill a dozen or so people in less than 30 seconds. He could probably even get away in the darkness and confusion if he just stood by an exit door when he did it. He could go into a crowded bus or nightclub or subway car or shopping mall, and kill a dozen people before anybody knew what was happening. He could take a scenic drive through our beautiful western forests in the summertime, tossing out molotov cocktails every 20 miles or so, and start forest fires that would tie up our National Guard for weeks, if not months, and destroy millions of dollars worth of property. He could take a shotgun on the same trip and shoot out long-distance power lines in remote areas, causing blackouts hundreds of miles away.

And none of this would take any planning, coordination, or access to unusual resources. It would take five minutes on Google maps to find a route for the drive just described. Thanks to the Republicans, it’s easier to buy a gun than to rent a car, and I doubt there is any location in any decent-sized city that is more than ten minutes away from a soft target full of people.

So, if there are thousands or millions of bad hombres in the US wanting to kill us, why are there only two or three attacks per year?

Because we’re being lied to.
