… that maybe feelings for him might have changed a tad
Oh, a tad. The LR looks like it would probably have a small negative delta to it. But, so far, the decline appears to be inexorable. And that is not just the Dope, that is the whole country.

Looks like he’s about as popular as Ford was. Funny thing is you never hear people --even Republicans – talk about what a great president Ford was. It’s amusing that Trump thinks it’s going to be any different for him. Even Nixon had him beat until well into 1973 after the Pentagon Papers and Watergate brought him down. Trump hasn’t even had a major scandal, yet. Just the hint of one on the horizon.
Why isn’t failing to staff your government a major scandal? Why aren’t his proclamations against freedom of speech and freedom of the press major scandals? Why isn’t putting his unqualified and unelected family members in positions of power a major scandal.
Your asshole of a president needs to be ridden out on a rail like the friend of the little man that he is.
Agreed. It should be, but I can’t explain why it isn’t. It’s frightening to think that Trump is normalizing that behavior by virtue of the fact that there are so many things to be appalled about, it’s getting more difficult to be appalled by the less appalling things that would have been unthinkable in a previous administration. He’s just so brazenly inept and unapologetically self-serving, I don’t think the public at large and the media knows quite what to do with it.
I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. Thanks man. I may never be able to eat a peach again.
Can you clarify this for me?
Are you suggesting that we should hope Trump succeeds in his efforts to destroy federal science, and hope that this turns into a good idea?
Should we hope the GOP succeeds in its efforts to take huge wealth from the working poor and future generations in order to further enrich the super-rich?
Should we be disappointed that he hasn’t succeeded in completely killing Obamacare? But glad that he is taking executive actions to sabotage it critically?
On that point one need only consider the Bush (44) administration’s suppression of government research into stem cells and green energy for eight years. The former delayed a number of significant medical advances, while the latter allowed China to become the dominant force in green energy technology. And for what? Nothing at all was gained by those other than some minor pandering to the religious right and more profits for the oil and gas industry.
Trump’s policies are stifling action to address climate change at a critical time. The consequences of that alone could be incredibly damaging in the longer term.
Hell, a lot of the things he did even before getting elected would have made him unelectable in many countries. And yet, there he is, wanting to grab his daughter by the pussy.
Wanting to? Jared has an expression on his face that evokes a person who has grown accustomed to sloppy seconds.
Not his fault. There’s only so many multi-millionaires/billionaires willing to work in government.
No, we want the country to succeed which is why we must make sure that his self serving, petty and spiteful plans all fail.
Well, it’s relative.
For Trump, making the U.S look like fools, daily demonstrations of idiocy and petulance, Failing at all meaningful governance, showing incompetence in areas never before imagined to be an area subject to questions of competence, etc. is the high end of the possibility curve. “Disastrously inept, but not having apocalyptic consequence for a whole year” is not too bad for him.
Even fewer willing to work in HIS government
What? He’s a flaming asshole, elected by assholes. He doesn’t deserve the position he’s been elected to. What exactly would I want him to succeed at?
You seem to be saying, “If we all just tap our heels three times and wish real hard, everything will be all right”. Sorry, I don’t have that sense of sunny optimism.
His first year in office isn’t up yet. There’s still time.
Them, and cabana boys, muffler salesmen, wedding planners, and the odd right-wing radio talk show host.
I wouldn’t hold your breath.
He emerged, he trolled, he slid back under the bridge. Better to pretend he was never here.
True, his sheer malevolence is fortunately being mitigated by his overall incompetence.
Note that this was Ford after the strong negatives garnered from the Nixon pardon, and doesn’t take into account Trump’s higher disapproval ratings.
Trump is successfully implementing a Gish Gallop of appallingness putting so many examples of wrong doing out there that we don’t have time to give any individual atrocity the attention it deserves.
Why? The free money they get out of kickbacks would seem easy pickings.
Mar-a-Lago to hire 70 temporary foreign workers. I hope President Parallelogram only gets applicants from countries on his stupid travel ban list.
