The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

This is the true test for Sens. Collins, McCain, and Murkowski. If they are truly principled they’ll vote no and sink the nomination.

Betcha they don’t! Not enough headlines to grab, plus the dude’s gonna be a judge in [del]bumfuck[/del] Alabama, so who cares anyway?

Congress to hold hearing this week on The Great Orange Menace and his access to the nuclear launch codes.

To be worse than Trump, you, ironically, need to be better. Take Trump, but make him an actual competent politician, who’s able to get stuff done.

Meanwhile, it looks like General Beauregard is going to launch the political equivalent of Pickett’s charge. He’s apparently instructing his prosecutors to investigate the Hillary uranium deal (and whatever shit they can to distract from the Mueller investigation)

I know I get called out for being a Chicken Little but the reality is that my predictions are, over and over again, correct. As I said, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions is a target of Mueller’s investigation. He and Trump’s interests are aligned. He will eventually figure out that the shortest path between A and B is a direct line and will shut down the investigation. He doesn’t necessarily have to just end it; he can counter-attack and try to create a parallel narrative in which he drags Mueller, Comey, and others into muddied waters.

We’re approaching the moment of truth in American democracy, the most important 6-12 month period in the nation’s history. If the institutions fail to stop Trump and if ordinary people fail to support these institutions, we will end up with a dead Constitution. And right wing authoritarian rule.

President Trump appears to be caught off guard by ASEAN summit's group handshake - ABC News.

The third still picture down is now my new favorite Trump picture of all time. I don’t think I have ever made that face even during a kidney stone, or stepping on a rust fence nail all the way through my foot. That is just a masterpiece of of an agonized face, Even Mickey Rourke and his messed up face needs professional Make-up artists to get to that level, that apparently can be achieved by Trump simply by being forced into a handshake he can’t dominate.

Benjamin Wittes has a thread on how this might be less than it seems. It might be Sessions actually shutting this down. Might.

So, be Pence?

Just wait. When he gets back, his Enrongy Secretary will give him lessons on how to fellate a corndog. Then we should get some prime stuff.

Since Rick Perry took over I’ve been calling the position the Secretary of Entropy.

I’ve been saying similar things. I have no expectation Mueller will be permitted to complete his investigation.

I’m going to stick with the summer of 1863 for “The most important 6 month period in American history.” Even the inevitable shutdown of Mueller’s investigation could be repaired simply by Trump losing the 2020 election, an election he has no way of avoiding.

Hope for the best.
Prepare for the worst.

It’s staggering that this potential outcome can be cheered on by so many.

History is not likely to be kind to Trumpco customers.
They’ll be dead or dying, so what do they care, tho?

Not sure what any individual can do about it—facts are ineffectual.
The systemic issues in our democracy grow greater. Trumpco customers are only a symptom.

We may have to lose a major war badly before there is significant reform.

Sad.

Hey! Not too many judicial nominees take a year out of their lives to be a Paranormal Investigator. This man talks to the living AND dead!

Comes in handy when the Mob offs a witness.

“Truly principled”? I don’t see a smiley-face.

Murkowski voted to confirm
[ul][li] Mick Mulvaney to head the Office of Mismanaging the Budget. Besides voting for every government shutdown, Mulvaney is famous for introducing the So. Carol. law forcing ultrasounds prior to abortion. Even Forbes.com has come out against this corrupt nincompoop. (Admittedly, Forbes’ problem is with his stupidity, not his right-wing views.)[/li][li] Tom Price for HHS. Price, remember, is the turd so corrupt he had to resign even from Trump’s cabinet! Price doesn’t believe in climate change and favors defunding Medicare, but I think these are true of everyone on this list.[/li][li] Steven Mnuchin to be the fox guarding the henhouse at Treasury.[/li][li] Scott Pruitt to head Environmental Pollution Augmentation.[/li][li] Jeff Sessions, etc. etc.[/li][/ul]
John McCain didn’t vote against any of the above except Mulvaney; and McCain also voted to confirm
[ul]
[li] Betsy DeVos, now intent on destroying public education in America. She has a lot of stock in private school corporations; I hope her fans raced to buy these stocks also when they supported her. A favorite DeVos quote: “Historically black colleges and universities were real pioneers when it comes to school choice.”[/ul][/li]
Susan Collins is the closest thing the the GOP has to a sane Senator. She voted against a grand total of two (2) of Trump’s cabinet: DeVos and Pruitt.

Question: if Thump were removed from office by some outside means/event/action that could be blamed on the Republicans (not health or an “Act of God”*), would the Thump hardcore base transfer its loyalty to Pence? I think not. And in fact, if the Pubs deposed their Blessed Leader, I can imagine them fleeing the party in droves. I believe their loyalty is to Thump, not to the party. What do y’all think?

  • One ponders what might drive God to such an Act…

No, they don’t have any loyalty to Trump. They are an anti-establishment movement. Which is why Roy Moore won the Senate primary, even though Trump endorsed his opponent.

By the way, Pence has the right anti-establishment, extremist right-wing credentials to replace Trump. The New Yorker article on Pence is very good (though very long), if you want to learn more.

As would I, but it’s mildly interesting that all the paranoid bullshit about how Clinton, Bush43 and Obama were planning to declare martial law seems slightly less bullshitty where Trump is concerned.

Only slightly, mind you.

Trump’s hardcore base isn’t noted for critical independent thinking. They’ll believe whatever they’re told to believe.

I think if he’s removed by any means, including health or “Act of God” (which would instantly be attributed to a secret assassination scheme), his followers will blame the “RINO” establishment.

Also known to Hannity listeners as The Deep State, which includes the fifth column Obama left infesting the government.
