According to a Jake Tapper Tweet: “A friend of Harward’s says he was reluctant to take NSA job bc the WH seems so chaotic; says Harward called the offer a ‘shit sandwich.’”
Smart guy.
From the article:
It’s interesting that he’s been sitting on that information for weeks now and only now decides to cut him loose. I don’t believe it’s a stretch to imagine that it didn’t bother him in the least until Flynn’s lies became public.
He gets a pit thread: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
He already had one.
He should have asked Frederick Douglass (to steal from Andy Borowitz).
I wonder if Trump could pass it.
Well-oiled machine.
Problem is they’re using Oil of Olay.
They wouldn’t happen to have been Russian nationals, would they?
Man oh man, what a press conference. Major news anchors on CNN are laughing their asses off, probably not the effect Trump intended.
I think starting with the 2018 congressional elections, it’s going to be a Night of the Long Knives for the Republicans. And I wouldn’t mind much if that were true in a very literal sense for Republicans everywhere.
Maybe this is the price to pay for getting rid of the Republicans once and for all. If Clinton had won, they’d regroup and maybe grow stronger. I think Trump could very well finish them off. Maybe a few years of this is a small price to pay.
As soon as the Republicans chose that fool to be their presidential candidate, I started saying, “This is the death knell of the Republican party”. Sometimes I hate being right. It’s not that it bothers me that the 'pubbies will go away as a party; it’s the damage the fool is doing now and will do before he finally ups and quits that bothers me.
Well this is what I thought when he became the GOP nominee. Trump would obviously get tanked in an election vs an adult. Heck, he’d lose to an avergae 9th grader on understanding of world politics or maturity.
Then the GOP would have to rethink how crazy the party had become, and we’d have a saner political discourse.
But then something happened at the large hadron collider, and we got dropped into a bizarre reality where tens of millions voted trump (and the moon became made of cheese, but we’ve yet to discover that). Now all bets are off.
Also, being a little more serious for a moment, they’ll be a conservative majority on the SC for perhaps a generation, so we’re hardly getting rid of the guys, no matter what happens.
Whether perverse or just bored, this prompted me to examine a variety of texts to see how deviant your six commas (with a semi-colon inside a parenthesis) were. My results were so interesting I’m tempted to start an IMHO thread, but instead will content myself with a sentence from Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield …
The way in which I listened to all the incidents of the house that made themselves audible to me; the ringing of bells, the opening and shutting of doors, the murmuring of voices, the footsteps on the stairs; to any laughing, whistling, or singing, outside, which seemed more dismal than anything else to me in my solitude and disgrace - the uncertain pace of the hours, especially at night, when I would wake thinking it was morning, and find that the family were not yet gone to bed, and that all the length of night had yet to come - the depressed dreams and nightmares I had - the return of day, noon, afternoon, evening, when the boys played in the churchyard, and I watched them from a distance within the room, being ashamed to show myself at the window lest they should know I was a prisoner - the strange sensation of never hearing myself speak - the fleeting intervals of something like cheerfulness, which came with eating and drinking, and went away with it - the setting in of rain one evening, with a fresh smell, and its coming down faster and faster between me and the church, until it and gathering night seemed to quench me in gloom, and fear, and remorse - all this appears to have gone round and round for years instead of days, it is so vividly and strongly stamped on my remembrance. … that has 25 commas, 2 semi-colons, and 7 dashes.
Yes, and maybe the average republican will come to realize that Obama was actually a pretty decent president. And maybe they’ll come to realize that when Trump speaks about 3 million illegal votes, he’s talking out of his ass. And maybe my ass will sprout wings and fly me to the fucking sherbert kingdom. We had eight years of gross incompetence and mismanagement under Bush, followed by 8 years of pretty darn decent presidenting from Obama. The FOX News/Talk Radio/Internet shitbag crowd doesn’t care. They’ll keep spreading their propaganda. It took all of two years for the republican party to recover from that disaster. Why would you assume anything resembling sanity or rationality now?
Yeah, apparently the Donald thinks that he inherited a mess. A mess, I tell you. He has no idea what Obama has to deal with following W.
Exactly. As clownish and incompetent as Trump is, he hasn’t (probably only because he hasn’t yet had time) started a disastrous war, or devastated the economy. Bush took a budget SURPLUS and turned it into a huge deficit that benefited only the rich; he literally threw away money and lives in a war he lied us into; and then he took us within an inch of total economic disaster. And the fucking morons in the red states, and even some of the traditionally blue states, voted for Trump because they hated the idea of affordable health care.
You simply cannot overestimate the stupidity of the American electorate.
But you have to admit, that is an amusing hyperlink text.
You are sadly correct.
Already, there are GOP voters who “remember” that Obama just sat there in the White House doing nothing when those planes hit the twin towers on 9/11. No, I am not making this up
In future years, GOP voters will “remember” how Obama killed hostages in Iran, how he set up death panels and killed their grandma, and how Obama personally opened a portal to hell, releasing the demon spawn.
