I don’t know - the Dems have two things they need to get done - CHIP and DACA. If they get 6 years of CHIP on a short extension, then they can use the next one to get DACA. Incrementalism works, and I’m not sure which of the two I’d prioritize.

The more important question is why the Reps would oppose either one. Why are they choosing to make basic decency a partisan issue, and to be on the wrong side of it? They’re making a bad mistake not only morally but politically.
Watch, if either the house or senate flips in 2018 and they push through a CHIP bill, Trump will immediately claim credit for the bill and heap praise on it. :rolleyes:
With CHIP, the issue is spending money that could be used on something more worthy, like more tax cuts for fatcat donors.
With DACA, the issue is offending the sensibilities of the party’s base base by letting brown people stay in the country.
