In today’s news…White House aide Rob Porter resigned, when his 2 ex-wives both went public with stories of physical abuse (including a picture of one of them with a black eye.)

Chief of Staff Kelly knew about his background, as it came up on his background check and prevents Porter from getting the clearance he needs to actually, you know, work in the White House.

But Kelly and Sarah Huckabee Sanders both sang Porter’s praises today as a really swell guy and it’s a shame he’s leaving.

But here’s the really interesting part: he’s currently dating … wait for it …

Hope Hicks.

Can that poor woman please go on Match.com and find somebody to date who doesn’t work for Trump?

I think conservative women are attracted to wife beating “Christian” men. Either they get some perverse pleasure out of being dominated by a Godly man, or they believe that the victims of abuse are weak, can’t satisfy their husband, and somehow deserve to be beaten.

Poor Hope Hicks. Dating a giant piece of shit like Corey Lewandowski, and now this.

While I will definitely stop short of saying that anyone deserves to have a wife-beater inflicted on them, Hicks has been among Trump’s most dedicated, unconditional, unthinking, uncritical, no-matter-what supporters and cheerleaders from the beginning. Sort of like a female version of Don Jr, but not actually officially a family member. It’s hard to feel sympathy for her.

When I first heard about this story, I had the TV on as background noise and thought the two abused ex-wives were Dumpster’s. There have been persistent rumors that he paid Ivana a LOT of money in the divorce to keep her mouth shut about it.

David Cay Johnston has a new book out, and here he discusses it. IDK if this will air on C-SPAN 2’s “About Books”; I hope it does. Anyway, it’s 47 minutes long but well worth checking out. Language is SFW.

I also thought he was an absolute scumbag after that, but the ironic thing is, he apparently still is the sane man in the room.

What I mean is, his 5% or so of integrity trumps everyone else right now in the white house by all accounts, and he’s frequently the one trying to restrain trump.

I mean, I know this is just about “no brownies allowed”, but I’m still idly wondering how much more “extreme” US visa grants can really get.

Like, an acquaintance of mine was plumb refused entry for a week-long comic-con centric vacation on the grounds that her criminal rap sheet had one (1) item on it, namely breaking a window once when drunk (she hadn’t even *meant *to break it - she’d just kicked at the storefront because they’d tossed her out of the bar). If the bar is already that high for tourists, I can only imagine what it must be like to apply for residency… And I can’t fathom what more the administration is *supposed *to do to match Trump’s insane standards. Does he plan on hiring Maat to do the heart feather scale thing ?

If I was visiting a country, got obnoxious enough to get thrown out of a bar, and then (uhh, accidentally) kicked out the bar’s front window — I would not be the least bit surprised if the country put me on a “not welcome back” list.

Beyond, that, I’d like to remind everyone to fight Outrage Fatigue, donate to ACLU, Planned Parenthood, environmental organizations, good midterm candidates…

Obnoxious shows of strength are ALWAYS weak. Always.

The man who brags of his wealth is terrified that others will find him wanting. The man who brags of his sexual conquests is afraid others will question his virility. The man who brags of his sports achievements is afraid others think him a weakling. The man who prays the loudest is afraid others will see his lack of virtue.

No one ever shows off strength who is not compensating for something. The strong person is confident. The confident person has no need of braggadocio.

I have said it before and will again; the central characteristic of Donald Trump as a President is that he is weak. He lies, brags, and bullies because he is too weak for his job, and on some level he knows that, and overcompensates.
