In Trump’s adult day care White House, they love playing musical chairs.
They will continue the game until they’ve tweaked it just right and found the perfect combination of 100% brain-dead synchophant hive-mind/Trump-worship. This kind of incompetence takes time, it doesn’t just HAPPEN.
I think this came up recently on another thread: “synchophant” is not an actual word.
And that’s the beauty of being unqualified. You can sit in ANY chair - Energy today, VA tomorrow. Maybe next week, NSA!
Not yet…
To be fair, the Brits have been doing this for decades. “Cabinet reshuffle,” the call it — as it to suggest that randomness is the goal.
The difference being that the British know when they put in a Cabinet minister the minister will rely on a large body of people within their ministry who know what the fuck they’re doing, and who send a large amount of relevant paperwork for the minister to read in order to have some awareness of current issues within their brief. That doesn’t always deter the “less capable” folks who occasionally get dropped into such roles and mess them up badly <cough>Michael Gove<cough> but the civil service usually manage to keep them from doing any permanent damage.
The Trump administration made it very clear very early that they wouldn’t listen to those sorts of people, and as a result the experts have largely left and ignorance reigns.
Looking forward to a 100% Russian bot cabinet.
True, Gyrate. From what little I know (thanks to reading the Economist over the years), I’d take just about any UK cabinet member over any Trump one, whatever the “portfolio” (area of responsibility).
But the music never stops! Make the music stop!
The timing of the Tillerson announcement was dumb for at least two reasons:
-
It made the cabinet look chaotic exactly when people were going to the polls for the PA-18 special election. If it caused only a few hundred people to stay home or switch votes, that’s all it took to swing that election.
-
More importantly, it stomped on the bullshit No Collusion memo from the lackeys on the House committee. It’s as if that committee had spent the last few months telling a joke and as soon as they say the punchline, Trump coughs and no one can hear it. Their bullshit finding said “No collusion, and Russia was just making trouble, not trying to help him in particular”, and then Trump immediately changed the subject to Tillerson.
During the election coverage, Republicans at CNN were saying that it probably hurt Saccone’s chances. Clusterfuck indeed.
“Then I said, 'What a great idea…" He’s complimenting himself now. Stable genius, indeed.
I’m astounded (which is status quo these days) by Trump’s comment that he’s close to getting the cabinet and staff that he wants.
Uh…who picked the last assortment of idiots and crooks?
Whoever he was, Trump should fire him.
I don’t know about wetting. It looks like he’s shit himself, and likes it.
Sure, sure, anything you say, boss.
Unfortunately, this is not just another offhand, stupid thing Trump made up as he went along. It appears to be his next move in response to Russia trying to flip-the-script with Reagan’s whole “Strategic Defense Initiative” (Star Wars) and all the weapons “concepts” they announced and have supposedly been testing. It would seem both nations want to instigate the other into a military spending war.
There already is and long has been a U.S. “Space Force” and here it is.
The CFSGA is calling that the “deep state”, a massive left-wing substrate that is what was making the country not-great. Brawndo!
So, it seems that Trump is pressuring Jeff Sessions to fire Andrew McCabe, 5 days prior to McCabe’s retirement, as to deny McCabe his 21-year pension:
There really is no depth to his pettiness. Worse, he is doing it to put a chill on other agents who may be not be in his camp – which I assume at this point would be most of them.
I am so sickened by this asshole and his entire administration. You know how bad it is when Jeff Sessions starts to look like “the good guy.”
Five days to retirement? At least he’s not partnering him up with a loose-cannon cop in one last crazy investigation. That never ends well.
