A lurid video would rub their noses in it, and peel off a significant cohort who can no longer ignore what their eyes are telling them. Not all of them, or even most; but significant nonetheless.
He committed adultery against his other two wives. If that didn’t make a difference, why would this? I consider this a draw on Trump’s part, and a “win” on Melania’s part. I am sensing a shift in sympathy towards her by the press already.
I’m talking about what the Russians have. The pee tape. Consensual golden showers would cross the line for many evangelicals.
Well done.
I honestly don’t think so.
I doubt it. After all, they still supported Roy Moore the child molester.
That’s because they didn’t believe the children. Had there been videos of any molestations, OTOH…
Dude, evangelicas consume as much or more porn than anybody else. I hardly think they’ll need fainting couches. They’ve seen far more titillating stuff in real HD. The “line crossing” would be Trump blowing a guy.
Trump is an idiot, but nothing in your post contradicts anything i wrote.
While McCabe has been under scrutiny for some time, and stepped down from his duties at the start of the year, the FBI recommendation to terminate him only made it to Jeff Sessions recently. The recommendation comes from the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility, and Sessions now has to decide whether “to either accept or reverse that decision,” according to the New York Times.
In fact, rather than being the impetus for McCabe’s termination, Trump’s bloviating about the case could end up saving him. If Trump had kept his mouth shut, and just allowed the usual processes to run their course, then McCabe could maybe have been fired without too much controversy. It’s not completely clear what the full reasons are for the FBI’s recommendation, because its report has not been released, but apparently they concluded that he was “not forthcoming” during “an internal review that includes an examination of his decision in 2016 to allow F.B.I. officials to speak with reporters about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation.” The Times notes that, “when agents are found to have shown a lack of candor under oath, they are commonly fired.”
As the Washington Post notes, this has all become a big political story:
So, depending on how the political winds blow, and how the pressures build, Trump’s big mouth could help to save the very guy he wants fired. If that happened, it would be a perfect reflection of his presidency.
Emphasis mine.
Actually, Trump couldn’t fire McCabe even if he wanted to. As the New York Times article i linked above points out:
Would it have made any difference? I somehow don’t think so. They’d find SOME way to wave it away.
All I can say then, is GOOD!
Video of him getting spanked (especially if it involves him begging to be spanked) would hurt him, though, precisely because it’s such “unmanly” beta-male if not omega-male behavior by Derplorable standards.
I don’t know that it would. They know what he is and don’t care. I’ve already read one (maybe more) of them (the evangelical leaders) saying that God can do good through imperfect people (like King David!). President Trump, they say, is a failed human like all of us, but he’s doing the will of God by putting the rights of the unborn at the forefront, putting the well-being of Christians here and abroad above Islam and atheists, and doing everything he can to stamp out godless communism/socialism. Basically, he’s doing everything they want, the fact he’s a loathsome person doesn’t matter.
Some might, but others may find they have an allergy to neurotoxins.
The ones that voted for him in 2016, you mean? I am sure that all the ones who would be turned off of him for his affairs have already lodged their complaints at the voting booth.
Trump would say it was fake, and they would believe him.
This.
You don’t have to convince them all, just the sane-but-fooled ones who can accept that they were lied to. Some you can’t reach and shouldn’t waste time trying.
It was probably this despicable waste of DNA: First Baptist Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress: Evangelicals don't care if Trump had sex with porn star
They made a pretty bad bargain then. Trump has done nothing substantial on any of those issues.
Sure, some of them would. But there are some people who would finally wake up to who Trump really is if they actually saw it with their own eyes.
Trump can’t afford to lose any followers. He came in second place to Hillary Clinton in 2016. He’s going to need every person who voted for him in 2016 to vote for him again in 2020 for him to even have a chance at getting re-elected.
That’s already going to be an uphill battle. In 2016 Trump got away with making all kinds of promises. In 2020 he’s going to have to make excuses for why he’s failed to fulfill any of those promises. He’s going to have to explain why he should get four more years as President when his current term has been such a mess.
Ten or twenty million Kool-Aid drinkers aren’t going to be enough. Trump’s going to have to convince another forty or fifty million people whose votes are in play to give him another chance.
