Republican Senator Ben Sasse says President Donald Trump’s decision to congratulate Russian President Vladimir Putin on his election win was “foolhardy” and weakened the United States. “The President of the United States was wrong to congratulate him (Putin).”
A few Republicans are beginning to realize we have Putin’s Puppet in the Whitehouse.
Amazing - the third district outside Chicago can produce only one GOP primary candidate, who happens to be possibly the most brazenly neo-nazi fuck-knuckle to, well, at least occupy an Illinois congressional seat.
Breitbart and Bannon (who have parted ways) have pretty consistently viewed their brand of “economic nationalism” as opposed to Kushvanka’s so-called globalism.
Actual Bannon quote: “Darkness is good: Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That’s power. It only helps us when they get it wrong. When they’re blind to who we are and what we’re doing.”
Actually part of that district is the southwest side of Chicago, where I live, so its part Chicago and part suburban, but always goes pretty strongly democratic. The Nazi ran unopposed on the GOP primary, so not surprising that he won. That he got 20,000 votes is a bit of an eyebrow raiser though. The GOP couldn’t get any mainstream candidates to run, probably because it would just be a waste of money since the Democrat will win by a comfortable margin in this district pretty much regardless of the candidates. Which is fine by me.
That’s where I live and, yes, it’s nominally Democratic, but on the conservative side of Democratic, which is why Lipinski won there. It’s shifting, but still, to me, seems to be Democratic because it’s the only game in town.
Yeah its not straight blue, there are quite a few conservatives in our disctrict, but not enough to win a general election. Especially with a rep like Lipinski, who is pro-life and as you say, the conservative side of Democratic. Had progressive and Bernie endorsed Marie Newman won, and there was a reasonable option on the GOP side, it might be a competitive race, but against an actual Nazi which we have running now, almost any Democrat would be winning in a walk in November.
