The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

There is actually this comment on the tweet from someone - “Thank You! I knew you would come through! don’t pass this bill till the wall and the daca recipients are taken care of… #MAGA

I, I just don’t understand.

It may not be a matter of guts; it may be a matter of stupidity. He absolutely has the stupidity to shut down the government by himself, and he has the reptilian conscience to shamelessly blame it on everyone else but himself.

He distracts people from the horrible shit he does by doing something worse.

Vladimir says…impose tariffs.

>>>DEAL!

Vladimir says…congratulate me on call

>>>OK

Vladimir says…sleep with Russian hookers.

>>>WHERE? WHEN? HOW MUCH?

Vladimir says Fire Mueller!

>>>DOIN IT NOW, VLAD!

Veto omnibus bill!

>>>I’M ON IT

Ah, ah…Vladimir didn’t say veto omnibus bill!

Or to put it another way, he does horrible things, and gets away with it by saying worse things to distract the public.

You know, I’m actually inclined to go with the “he won’t sign it” side of the betting pool today. To me, in some weird way, it seems to make sense.

I know that this is the Trump Administration thread, but to be honest, the biggest story about this spending bill should really be the way that Republicans, who were so concerned by government spending during the Obama administration, are happy to spend like drunken sailors now that they can determine where that money goes. Discretionary spending under this budget will be, even after inflation is taken into account, higher than in any year during Obama’s second term. And this spending will all happen in an environment of significantly decreased revenues, resulting from the billionaire boondoggle tax cut.

Some of the Republicans who were most outraged about all the spending happening on Obama’s watch are the same people who are actually in a position to do something about it now. Perhaps the biggest hypocrite is Paul Ryan. The title of this article says it all:

Remember, he’s proud of his ability to lie and thrives on creating conflict because conflict is entertaining to watch. What sort of person would lie to be entertained by the conflict he creates?

A troll.

Maybe he did

I stand corrected.

And millions will keep slurping up his diarrhea milkshakes as long as they’re republican flavored.

While proclaiming that the “real” troll was not elected.

The goodwill of Congress and the donor class isn’t infinite. I really wonder when they’ll decide that he’s causing them more headaches than his unreliable pen is worth.

What he lacks in guts he makes up for with incredible pig-headed stupidity.

ETA: What asahi said, too.

CNN bulletin. He’s going to sign it. (Couldn’t link, but should be easy to find.)

Well, it’s a good thing I don’t make bets, then, it seems.

But he’s “never going to sign another bill like this again.”

Main running list of updates: Trump signs the spending bill: Live updates
Specific update referenced: Trump: "I will never sign another bill like this again"

Could that because he knows he won’t be president long enough to do so?
</wishful thinking>

I suspect some of the donor class - the Mercers, in particular - have already crossed the political (and possibly, legal) Rubicon.

Now your Gary Cohns and Wall Street Republicans, on the other hand, are probably already getting sick of his shit. It’s just hard to call him out when what you see around you looks like a good economy. But again, these things take time.

Obama was given an old beat up car, but he fixed up it fairly nice. Alas! Trump seems determined to drive it right over the cliff, Thelma and Louise style.

But look how fast it goes! We should put some rocket fuel in it, we’ll get to the cliff even faster.

Congress has gone on vacation for two weeks. If Trump vetoed it the government would shut down unless they came back and kowtowed to his demands.

He also said “This is the last time I will sign a bill like this.” Ooohhh, booga booga.
