As close as I can figure it, I think he was going for “they have the same last name, they’re both from Texas, and he’s a white dude, drr hrr hrr”. Note the “High IQ” bit. He usually pulls the IQ thing when talking about minorities.
Anything else would involve more thought than he’s exhibited in several years.

I am sure he used to watch the odd episode of Dallas back in the late '70s and the early '80s. After that the plot became too convoluted for him to follow, but he still pretended for a while.

When I was young, I used to think Crockett was real and Boone was a cheap TV knockoff of him. Or the other way around. I forget. Now I image search for Fess Parker “as”, and they both show up in the results, and I can’t tell which one is Crockett and which is Boone.

I was born in a military dictatorship, and Frodo knows something about that too, so we may be biased (not that I am talking in his name here, just extrapolating from former posts of his plus some optimistic assumptions. He also used the word ominous). But I don’t believe your hopes, commendable as they are, are going to turn out to be the right strategy.
Yeah, on any organization you’ll eventually find a spineless toady if you fire enough people, and the next Chief of Staff will be selected precisely for his (it would be absolutely be a him) lack of spine.
The issue is less spine or morals, but the ability to do it at all. If Trump is making impossible demands even the most sycophant officer can’t give him what he wants.
Some amoral general asshole will think that he can fake till he makes it and believe he can lie his way through the mess until then. When he finally fails President Ineptstein will call him a loser and move to the next one.
