Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, this will be the night when Trump finally fucks up so badly and so tremendously that not even the MAGA diehards can ignore the fact that he’s completely and totally senile.
I wonder if the drugs they give him to combat his sun downing will be insufficient, leading to a two hour, incoherent rant, or they’ll go too far and he’ll rapid fire spit out his nonsense.
Also, will all of SCOTUS attend? Will he tell them to their faces, in front the whole country, that they are disgraceful?
Either way, I’ll be hate watching it (or as much as I can take) with the sound off.
I was happy to hear the US Women’s Hockey team declined the invite to the speech. Smart ladies.
It will be nonsensical and filled with lies as usual, but I don’t think it will be the disaster you’re hoping for. The speech will have been written by his handlers, who will advise him to stay on script. He’s probably still capable of more or less doing that.
Trump could literally dip his hand into his diaper and fling feces at the audience, and MAGA would still applaud his leadership and statecraft.
I’m not so sure. I’m rather hoping not, in fact.

Nothing really to add, but I am finding it interesting that this thread, in the BBQ Pit, has got a lot more traction than the much politer thread in P&E.
As I have stated elsewhere, I won’t be able to join in watching the SOTU, owing to a prior commitment, but I am looking forward to reading here after the speech. This thread will likely be a lot more entertaining than the other one.

I’m having a big case of the stoopids here. What do you mean by “insurrection”? To me “insurrection” refers to the storming-the-Capitol idjits of January 6, 2021.
So, if I don’t watch the SOTU address, that makes me a January 6 supporter?

(Also, due to time zone issues, I won’t be watching the SOTU address live. I’ll be teaching a music class then. After which I’ll drive home, check the internet for the fustercluck of whatever occurred, and drink morosely [likely] or happily[(less likely] to whatever the fuck happened.)
I’ll watch it on YT afterward. I wouldn’t want to be counted as part of the ratings he lives for.
It’s my understanding that the Rep.s are planning to invite quite a few of the Epstein victims. I frankly think it’s a bad idea, and most likely to end in them being treated rudely. Again. But I’m anxious to find out what happens.
Where else will they find dates?
