I haven’t seen anything that indicates that Bibi agreed to any of this. He must be very pissed off with this capitulation. He was right that he could manipulate Trump to start the war but very wrong that he was special and Trump wouldn’t fuck him over if there was money to be made. Don’t these people ever learn? He didn’t, Israel is still attacking Lebanon and in response Iran has blocked the Strait again, all while Trump says the cease fire did not include Lebanon and Iran says it does.
I’ve said it before, Trump fundamentally doesn’t know how to negotiate in a situation where he can’t just unilaterally walk away from the whole mess. When dealing with an entity like a country, he doesn’t understand that they don’t have to just accept the terms he offers, and that they can have terms of their own, and that he has to deal with that. He can’t just walk away, or he loses the war. He’s got to do something. Give them what they want, convince them to want something different, or keep fighting the war.
Trump is of course incapable of any of those three options. He hates giving anyone anything, he’s too stupid to be able to convince anyone who won’t just believe his lies, and he’s clearly desperate to get out of this unpopular war before it completely tanks the Republicans.
So, chaos and quagmire it is.
