It really gives me a warm feeling of trust, now that Canada and the US are in the middle of renegotiating the free trade treaty (USMCA that came into effect in 2020).
No wait. I don’t trust the US one little tiny bit. I don’t think they will negotiate in good faith, nor do I think they will actually honour any agreement once made.
But surely the number of soldiers leaving for ethics concerns are dwarfed by the number willing to join now the the military has given up “wokeness” [/s]
Unfortunately chief among those who hold this delusion is our Sec. of Defense War, who has explicitly embraced “lethality” as the sole measure of military effectiveness.

In the past month, without any Congressional approval, he’s spent roughly as much on the Iran war as the annual budget of the United States Agency for International Development, which actually worked to improve things for people all over the world, saving thousands of lives, rather than killing thousands and destroying billions in civilian infrastructure.
God forbid we spend a tiny portion of the federal budget on food, housing, medicine and the environment for the benefit of people in other countries. They might actually grow to like America and we can’t have that.
Empathy is a sin according to the Right, and helping people for “losers” according to Trump. The former think helping people is evil, and the latter think it’s a sign of weakness.
So as far as both are concerned, exchanging helping people for bombs is a good thing.
What I don’t get is many on the Right and in the red states are big on public displays of the Ten Commandments, teaching Biblical passages in public schools and public (Christian) prayers, and yet they seem to have ignored all of the book’s teaching on how strangers should be treated.
