Forgive my despair for a moment… but every single day I keep thinking that something is going to happen. He’ll do or say something so egregious, outrageous, clearly and blatantly criminal that something has to give. And it just doesn’t. Over and over and over again. Every single day it’s something new.
MAGA controls congress. Both houses. They do nothing but enable when it seems like they’re doing anything at all. The Supreme Court is clearly and unabashedly in his pocket for the most important issues. Checks and Balances are dead.
He does something illegal. Lawsuits start to fly. But nothing changes. He just does another thing, and It’s like people throw their hands up and nothing changes because all of our attention goes to the new thing. I’ve long since given up the idea that he could be prosecuted in some way and be held accountable for the things that he’s done. It will not happen. Maybe people around him can be held accountable. But until people around him start going to jail for enabling his clearly criminal behavior, I don’t think there’s any chance of anything changing. And maybe not even then. Maybe if we get this so-called Blue Wave or Tsunami in November something might change. I have my doubts on that, particularly given some of the Court decisions that have came down regarding gerrymandering and redistricting.
This 1.8 billion dollar slush fund for insurrectionists may or may not actually become an actual thing. But if it doesn’t, it’s not going to be because anyone actually prevented it.

People have been going to jail for just that. Yet, nothing’s changing.
I’m hoping for both houses of congress to go blue. Then it will be possible for them to make their first substantive order of business impeachment and actual removal.
Holding @ 39% despite a year of grift, chaos, inflation, war, violation of duties, conbuggeration of separation of powers, egregious foreign policy, violation of fiduciary responsibilities et al, et al … gives hope to every tin pot populist wannabe monarch out there in the US political undergrowth.
Doesn’t matter. Fox News polls have said he sucks since he started this term. Yes, it has dropped a bit recently, but again…it doesn’t matter. His Republican support is still overwhelmingly positive (83% was their last update).

For the record, nobody actually runs for prime minister. That’s not how their system works.
I realize this sound like the ravings of a madman, but it makes a lot more sense once you learn that the president of Hispanics for Trump is named Jesus Christ.

I suspect that Trump’s actions in Iran are largely to create opportunities for him to take lots of money with insider trading of oil.
Think about it. Trump makes threatening statements toward Iran and the price of oil skyrockets. Then he talks like they are ready for a settlement and the price of oil dives. And repeat and repeat and repeat.
Trump and his cronies are likely making hundreds of millions or billions by playing the oil markets.
Also, my totally subjective feeling is that he’s a lot less popular here than he was a few months ago. Even people who, up until now, have not been very engaged in foreign politics (which is most Israelis) are starting to catch on that he’s an idiot.
Only if the Democrats can agree on something and all pull in the same direction. Even with a majority in both houses, I do not see Democrats getting together and being effective. They will continue to sabotage and fight among themselves as history shows. At least they can temporarily slow down the Republican juggernaut. Until the Republicans take control of the election process itself.
I wish I could be optimistic.
Vance is asked about trump’s blatant, nakedly corrupt insider trading. Gist of the question: “back when you campaigned for the Senate, you were against public officials trading stocks. How can you support all the insider trading trump is doing?”
Vance’s non-answer answer was to ignore the question entirely and just criticize the way it was asked, in true trumpian fashion. I will say, he does it a little more smoothly than trump, who would have just said “that’s a very stupid question, and you’re a very stupid person”.
Except that Congress has shown it’s not interested in putting a stop to Trump’s criminal behaviour, and the Courts have shown they’re powerless to put a stop to Trump’s criminal behaviour.
So just start making a list of every crime he’s committed, and everyone else in power who have enabled those crimes, and hope that the US in general gets its head out of its ass sometime soon, and can then prosecute all those people.
Just as the stock market can remain irrational longer than you can stay solvent betting on rationality, the world of politics can remain corrupt longer than you can stay hopeful.
But I still irrationally believe than many of them will pay in the end. Call it hopeful or delusional, but the alternative is too bleak to accept.
President Ineptstein himself, though, I fear is the one who will get away with it.

Of course there is a corollary “Ni cuerpo que lo aguante” (Nor body that can withstand it).
So all in all evil does not last forever and this particular one will not either, but it’s possible that our bodies will not be able to resist until this evil finally falls.
We also say “dentro de 100 años, todos calvos”. Calvo (bald headed) refers to the skull. Only the bones remain.
