Get ready for those duck and cover drills to start up again.
A panicked Russia has issued alarming nuclear threats as the U.S. warns Russian leader Vladimir Putin that he faces a “strategic disaster” in the ongoing conflict. The warnings from Moscow coincide with NATO launching major Ramstein Flag 2026 military exercises in a significant display of force.
U.S. representative at the U.N. Security Council, Dan Negrea, cautioned that the Kremlin was on the brink of failure, stating, "Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been a strategic disaster . Its oil refineries are ablaze, and Russia is losing 5,000 people per month.
“Moscow cannot achieve its goals on the battlefield. Escalation will not change that and only risks making the disaster worse. This war must end now. Enough is enough.” It comes after Trump was dealt a huge blow by all TV networks as they refused to listen to his order.
Despite the setback, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin declared that Putin was prepared to deploy nuclear weapons should Russia or Belarus - united under an autocratic “Union State” - face any security threats. If such an action were to occur, it could ignite World War Three.
“We are constantly ready to use all means, including nuclear ones, to ensure the security of the Union State,” he stated, pointing to an alleged buildup of NATO forces along the Russian and Belarusian borders.
These chilling developments were further compounded by a call in Russia’s official government newspaper, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, urging Putin to utilize nuclear weapons and pursue the assassination of Volodymyr Zelensky. The demand came from military expert Col. Yuri Knutov, as Moscow grows increasingly frustrated with Ukraine gaining the upper hand through its development and deployment of advanced drones and missiles. Putin’s forces are being pushed back along the frontline, sustaining catastrophic losses.
Moscow should declare Zelensky “an international terrorist, which in essence would free the hands of our special services for his liquidation,” he said.
"To these measures for neutralizing aerial threats, one can also add a change in the tactics of ground warfare. The mass use of drones is slowing the pace of our offensive. It forces us to disperse and conduct combat operations in small groups.
So much for ending that ward on Day One.
Let’s just make up laws and arrest people for breaking them.
Protests over poor living conditions for detainees at Delaney Hall immigration detention center erupted over the weekend, leading to the arrest of over 80 people, the Associated Press reported on Saturday. Some of the protesters arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are accused of assaulting law enforcement officers, obstruction, and threats. But questions remain about whether the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) enforcement policies violate the First Amendment and chill speech on the ongoing public debate over immigration policies.
The crackdown on protesters is not surprising given Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s statements during congressional hearings last week, in which he took a hard line against violent protesters. During a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing on June 3, Mullin testified that he is “OK with protest,” so long as it is done “in a peaceful way, in a legal area.” However, Mullin asserted, he has “zero tolerance” for individuals who “verbally assault our officers,” “go after our vehicles,” or “assault our property.” “You assault one of our officers, we will find you. We will arrest you,” he continued.
While Mullin is right that the destruction of government property and assaulting , resisting, or impeding law enforcement officers are both federal crimes, there is no such thing as “verbally assaulting” an officer under the law, Aaron Terr, the director of public advocacy at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), tells Reason.
Under the First Amendment, individuals are free “to criticize, mock, or disparage law enforcement officers” who “have no greater right than anyone else to be shielded from offense or criticism,” Terr explains. “In fact, the Supreme Court has recognized that properly trained officers are expected to show even more restraint than the average citizen when confronted with provocative or challenging speech.”
“The First Amendment’s broad protections are essential to preserving the public’s ability to criticize and hold accountable those entrusted with enforcing the law,” Terr says, which is why speech is generally protected “unless the speech falls into one of the narrow categories of unprotected expression.”
Texas’ Tofu Talarico Trounces Trump Toady
The Texas Senate candidate whom President Donald Trump propped up to a primary victory over a four-term incumbent Republican is trailing his Democratic challenger, a stunning new poll shows.
The Texas Pulse Poll conducted by Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government & Public Service and ReconMR found that Ken Paxton, the state’s scandal-ridden attorney general, trails Democratic state lawmaker James Talarico, 47 percent to 43 percent, within the margin of error of 4 points.
Trump endorsed Paxton over sitting Republican Sen. John Cornyn shortly before the primary runoff election last week, which greatly contributed to Cornyn’s bruising primary loss.
That boosted Democrats’ slim hopes of flipping the seat in a Republican stronghold state that Trump won by double digits. Before the primary, Cornyn warned that Paxton’s numerous scandals could hurt him .
On Monday, Dan Cogdell, Paxton’s impeachment attorney endorsed Talarico.
War criminal Hegseth’s nemesis kicks tail.
Nancy Lacore, a three-star admiral that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth fired last year, is projected head to a runoff against veteran Mac Deford in the Democratic primary for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, according to Decision Desk HQ .
Lacore and Deford defeated a group of Democrats in the district, which stretches along the southeast coast of the Palmetto State, and will head to a June 23 runoff.
The winner of the November general election will succeed Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), who ran for governor. The GOP primary for the House seat is also expected to head to a runoff.
During more than three decades of service in the Navy, Lacore rose from a pilot to vice admiral and served as chief of the Navy Reserve for more than a year. However, Hegseth removed her and dozens of other military leaders in August.
Lacore has the backing of multiple veterans-affiliated political groups, including VoteVets and Veterans for Responsible Leadership. EMILYs List, which aims to elect Democratic pro-choice women, also endorsed her.
But it’s not even “this one incident”, Mormons have been getting slammed by the Christian mainstream for as long as they’re existed. Have they forgotten why they all moved to Utah in the first place?
Short answer: yes!
There have been other targets for a while now, so they never realized they were not actually part of the club, just accepted erstwhile.
On a similar note: how many times this year alone have the Jewish conservatives out there had to deal with the fact many of the same folks who back Netanyahu all the way are also horrifically antisemitic, including the current President?
People are amazingly good at ignoring big flashing honking warning signs right in front of them and rationalizing them away.
All the nasty bigoted shit they used to say about Catholics back east, when I grew up? I was surprised that the same things were being said out her in AZ about Mormons. Almost word for word. SSDD.
JAQ, whose mom was Mormon but married a Catholic
“I’ve gotten hate from both sides now…”
It is sometimes very well deserved.
Look at the Mormon group on Beaver Island, Michigan in the 1850s. Their leader, Strange, declared himself to be the king.
Strang claimed absolute jurisdiction of the non-Mormons on the island and ordered them to either become Mormon or leave.

In today’s episode of Things that Would’ve Killed a Presidency in Normal Times (S6, Ep518), Trump says “I love the inflation…No, I love it. The numbers were great.”

It’s time to break out, “It’s the economy, stupid,” again. It might get through to folks for whom pissing off all our allies, persecuting The Other – of various varieties – rampant graft, and generally wiping the Constitution and the rule of law on their ass is not enough.
I’m sure we’ll all feel so patriotic and warm spending 9 bucks for a pound of ground chuck this Fourth knowing that the billionaire who deuces in a golden toilet and won’t shut up and building the greatest ballroom in human history loves high inflation.
The word ‘strange’ definitely applies, but his name was “Strang”. See The King of Confidence by Miles Harvey (c. 2020), Quite the character, was Strang.
Since I don’t have the autoincorrect feature on my workstation (I don’t think that I do, anyway), it had to be a typo.
Actually, I mispelled it twice but caught one of them just before posting.

After the commercial break, I wonder if we’ll hear Mike Johnson’s catch phrase, “I know nothing!” I love that part!
Bigoted & conservative (but I repeat myself) rhetoric tends to be very “Mab Libs ”, I’ve noticed. There’s templates that get constantly re-used, with only key words like the target getting changed as needed. There’s the Immigrant Horde of Racists and Subversives Template , the Secretly Satanic Religion Template , the Entertainment Corrupts the Youth Template and so on.
The sad part is he thinks he’s playing “Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions.”
I figured he thinks he can gaslight people into thinking record inflation is a good thing.
True. But up to now (so far as I know) it wasn’t being done by a major part of the federal government (namely, the Defense Department).
This is notable but I can’t decide if it’s “clusterfuck”-ish.
My guess is that Hegseth ordered them to decline. If so it qualifies as a fustercluck.
