The way I see it, it is a triangle. It could be rotated any way you want and it would not change. It suggests an up and a down, but it just is perspective. Badly drawn perspective. Some items at the back are bigger than the ones at the front.

No one will walk away from NATO on either side unless the United States starts a war with a NATO member. I still don’t think that’s likely (although it has grown much more likely than I thought a year ago).
What will happen is that NATO will become a shell. There will be many fewer joint exercises. No one will care which weapons systems the US favors. They will buy EU-made weapons and stick to shared EU standards. The EU nations (more or less) will enter a new mutual defense treaty with even stronger mutual aid guarantees than NATO. Australia will join. Canada won’t join immediately but it will cooperate with them and sniff around the edges. I don’t think the EU will align with China but they will strengthen trading relationships with China. They already are. Look at sales of Chinese cars in the EU. One sign will be if the EU lowers tariffs on electric cars.
That would be, the people losing money, and the people making money, respectively. 
It’s not “gambling” if the system is rigged, it’s giving your money away.
Of all the people in the world I feel sorry for, aaI think I feel sorry for people who unfairly lose money betting on random shit the least.
We like to watch My Lottery Dream Home, When the host asks the people “how’d you win your money”, and they say shit like “We were skipping meals and not affording heat, but when I was buying my Starbucks I bought a $20 scratcher and won!” I weep for humanity. Not only the fact that they didn’t win their lottery for “$20” but every $20 scratcher they bought since the dawn of time, but more the fact that they are going to inspire people watching the show to buy more lottery tix, because “why not me, too!”
Meh - most lottery winners probably aren’t that irresponsible and a TV show isn’t going to inspire anybody who wasn’t already predisposed to poor decision making.
As always, “man bites dog” makes for better ratings than the reverse. They aren’t going to feature a bunch of boring middle aged couples who can now afford to retire a few years earlier and enjoy some travel and time with the kids.
