It’s scary really.
I doubt it. My prediction is she runs as an independent in 2020, funded and aided by the Russians. She’s the 2020 election’s Jill Stein.
There was that guy who changed parties; there were many others who retired.
Exactly what impact she would have on the race isn’t clear, though. If she runs a conspiracy theory campaign, she might actually take away some votes from Trump.
I can’t imagine Tulsi Gabbard getting anything more than a very small number of votes. Jill Stein at least ran as the Green Party candidate and they have about 300,000 members.
The Rs are behaving like a cornered animal, fighting quixotically, and fiercely, for their very existence. I recall a quote from some story that went something like “To win, it takes courage, strength, cunning and persistence; to lose, it takes everything you’ve got.” They realize that they are on the losing path – not that they will admit it.
I saw it too.
She only needs to peel off 2-3% of the Democratic vote to have a substantive impact in a close election – which 2020 is likely to be.
Just something to keep in mind as the election season unfolds. (Vice)
Former FBI agent Clint Watts, who specializes in Russian social media manipulation, has compiled a notable report of favorable, neutral and unfavorable coverage of the main Democratic presidential candidates by RT and Sputnik, both Russian-government-run news agencies. The propaganda they push does get into the mainstream media bloodstream. Watts’ results are contained in the Vice piece I cited above.
I agree with eschereal, Trump Republicans are fighting for their lives. And we need to remember every moment, they fight dirty.
They have no choice but to stick together, and they now have no other choice but to rig democracy and take away power and liberty from ordinary people. They will declare war on Democrats now, but when this is over, they’re going to declare all-out war on the federal bureaucracy and civil service.
Look at the voting purges and there’s your sign: they don’t intend to have a complete and total dictatorship. It’ll be a “democracy,” but a lot less like the one we’ve had up to this point and more like the democracy of the 18th and 19th centuries – or like Turkey.
From the President’s rally tonight after the news that the impeachment vote had passed the House:
I thought he didn’t use the royal “we”. He made a big deal about it after the congressional law professors testified before Congress. Dude, you’re the only one who got impeached. We, who?
Gotta hand it to Nanacy Pelosi, really becoming one of my heroes:
Pelosi says she won’t send impeachment articles to the Senate just yet
Ok, what the hell,
@Junior:
**Dear Clintons,
You know what’s deplorable?
Being Impeached!!!
#BasketOfDeplorables**
I mean on the one hand yes because obvious partisan troll is obvious, but it’s still somewhat empty political theater - removal requires a 2/3rd majority in the Senate ; and that’s just not happening regardless, for Reasons. Or, possibly, $Reasons.
Sure, ultimately, I’d be totally surprised if she can alter that course, but I’m curious to see what she might try to flesh out of McConnell and get further under his craw.
The best outcome would be conviction by the Senate, of course. But second-best would be to leave Trump in limbo—impeached but not “exonerated” — forever.
Merry Impeachmas to one and all!
2nd best present I could have hoped for. The best present would be removal, but we all know that’s not going to happen.
Worth Noting: Tulsi Gabbard abstained from voting.
I listened to some of the debate (and I use the term loosely) on the radio today. All those Republican congressmen who said this was partisan, and divisive, and hurting the country, they know they could put a stop to that by voting ‘yes’, right?
Watching that press conference and then listening to some of the pundits go on about how there is some sort of bargaining taking place tonight that may go on a few more days I had an interesting thought.
By holding the articles it leave the Ds the option of adding more articles if they so choose. MoscowMitch has already said he has no intention of being impartial and is in fact coordinating with the WH - what is to prevent Pelosi and Co from adding a third article of impeachment for jury tampering? Is this a possibility? Because the thought of it is cracking me up bigly.
