The Twilight Zone on CBS

As a big fan of The Twilight Zone, I’d just like to let everyone know…

You can watch the old episodes on CBS.com I just watched The After Hours.

This is as good or better than the Netflix ‘watch now’ feature! I’m so excited!

It looks like you can also catch old episodes of the original Star Trek, MacGyver, and Hawaii Five-O

THIS IS AWESOME!!!

Excellent! I only have two shows that I haven’t seen. I can fulfill my current useless mission! YAY! Now I have to find my notebook with the shows, 'cause I can’t remember which two they are.

Sweet. Though it’s only a few months before July 4 and the next Twilight Zone a thon on Sci Fi, is it not? I know, I know, it’s better to be able to watch them when you want but there’s something mystical about that bi annual marathon.

?
But Star Trek originally ran on NBC, not CBS!

Welcome to the business of TV.

Star Trek was originally produced, not by NBC, but by Desilu.

Which was bought by Paramount.

Which was bought by Viacom.

Which also owned CBS.

And then CBS and Paramount were bought by National Amusements (aka, the Redstone family.)

In my opinion The Twilight Zone is one series that has aged VERY well. I’ll have to watch an ep or two of MacGyver or Hawaii Five-O to see if the same hold true with them.

My only memory of H5-O was an episode where the bad guy had some kind of poisoned shell that if you touch it it will kill you. Then at the end the dumbass badguy touches his own neck with the shell and it kills him.

Some of the chronology is off: Viacom (under National Amusements) didn’t buy CBS until 2000. The important thing is that CBS split from Viacom to form a seperate company in 2005, and was given the entire Paramount Television library, which explains why these CBS/Paramount shows appear on CBS’s website.

CBS was also originally offered Star Trek back around 1964 and passed on it “because we already have an outer space show.” - Lost In Space!

I’m sure CBS is happier to have it now with six series and over 725 hours of Star Trek produced. Not to mention 10 movies with Number 11 currently in production.
