The Two Towers - 9/11 dedication

Does this get filed under the “rumor” department?

Supposedly there has been buzz that there was pressure for the upcoming LOTR movie to change its title, as the term “The Two Towers” has become a little too connected with the 9/11 tragedy. Now the latest I’ve heard is that the title will be remaining, but there may be a dedication caption before the movie proper. Personally I think this isn’t really the best solution, as Tolkein’s title was coined years ago, and I feel that every possible reference to the WTC shouldnt be excised from all culture, but then thats me. It does seem that such a caption would serve to date the movie for future generations, much like the way Star Trek IV is very much a 1986 movie with its “Challenger” caption. (Well, in that case it probably also gets dated somewhat from actually being set in 1986, but i digress…)

Yes, it was a hoax. Some doofus started an internet petition as a joke.

No, there won’t be a dedication caption. There’s no reason for it.

These silly rumors get perpetuated by posts like yours.

Why doesn’t My Big Fat Greek Wedding have a 9/11 dedication??? Unpatriots!!

Yes, that is our new word. “Unpatriots”.

What!?! There’s a new edition of the Newspeak Dictionary out and no one told me? Is it the 10th or the 11th?

Neither. As always…it’s the first.

I will never watch ‘Airplane’ again.

Have they no respect?
Someone should have pulled the plug, in deference to 9/11, before this so-called ‘comedy’ was released.

And there’s a clear reference to both planes and killing in ‘Casablanca’.
What were they thinking? :wally
