My town is having it’s St. Patrick’s Day parade today, instead of on the day. I’m going downtown for beer though. I haven’t had beer before noon in a long time and it’s been a rotten week. I’ll catch the bus, so if I have a third beer(likely) I won’t have to drive home. How’s that for responsibility?
Soup is started - I’ve got a pot of beef broth, chopped onions, chopped 'maters, beef hunks, thyme, bay leaves, and some seasonings simmering away. I’ll let it go for a few hours before adding all the veggies. Oh yeah, there’s a glug of burgundy in there, too. And the beef hunks were dredged in flour/garlic powder/salt/pepper before being tossed into hot oil to sear a bit. Anyway, I foresee a yummerrific soup for supper.
Last chore for the day will be cleaning the critter water fountain. Later. Time to do some sudoku for a while.
FCM, I used to be a Sudoku fiend, but now I spend a lot (as in, way to much) playing spider solitaire on the computer. Hope the soup turns out good.
Sunny, preliminary {{hugs}}. Hope the news isn’t too bad.
Baker, beer before noon? Who do you think you are, spidey (or ruble, or doggio, or flytrap…)?
Went to coach soccer (evaluations) to find out that it had been cancelled, but three kids showed up anyway so I worked with them for about a half-hour and called it a day. Stayed up past midnight and slept till almost 9am (yep, definitely getting the hang of this retirement thing). 42F and due to stay in the 40’s-50’s all week. With rain. Ugh.
Need to break fast and see what the day holds.
Oy! We have snow.
I’m getting ready to go to the shelter for their adoption special this weekend. See if any of the pooches are a good match.
Howdy Y’all! The leprechaun has been lapped! A good time was had by all, everything got all cleanded up and put where it belongs and here I am at da cave all before noon even. WIN-WIN! Nappage to be achieved shortly.
I talked to **FCD **earlier - he’s not sure when he should come home - he even suggested tomorrow. We’ll see when I talk to him tonight. It pretty much depends on how we interpret the weather forecasts.
The last couple of days, I’d been hearing weird beeping when I was in either bathroom, so I just went downstairs to investigate. My washer was beeping for no apparent reason. I hit the Cancel button and it stopped, but a few seconds later, it started again. It’s unplugged and I fear it’ll soon be time to buy a new one. Dammit. Always something…
Remember to begin an hour early tonight, what with Daylight Savings Time.
When I got into my (garaged) car this morning, the thermo said 46°, within a tenth of a mile it had gone down 2°, at a ½ mile it had gone down 8° & at a mile 18° Wind chills were in the single digits. I ran, too. I had baklava on my face (I was napkinless); errr, ummm, a balaclava & sunglasses. The glasses were fogging up but I didn’t want to take them off because they were providing wind protection. Fun.
I strongly resent that remark.
It’s not before noon, it’s five o’clock…somewhere!
The critters’ water fountain is clean again. And the N.O.T.s are in the soup.
Can’t wait for supper!!!
Nappage has been achieved. Chili/cheese/slaw dawgs for dindin. I took some chili outta da freezer this mornin’. Slaw will be made and cheese grated at some point. I feel like I could go back to sleep. Blah.
The grocery stores are on full French Toast Panic alert. The roads have been brined. And I’m off until Tuesday.
I use Crashplan which at $12.50 / month is UNLIMITED data (for multiple computers - up to 10). One computer is $5 per month. I highly recommend it.
They offer the software FREE if you want to buddy up with a friend to save data on each other’s computers (and not use their service).
Glad to see you will have a new dash camera soon. I feel naked driving without one these days.

I haven’t been surfing by much in the past few months, so I apologize if I have not kept up with everyone. I’ve been pretty busy with work / life / etc., but will try to drop in more.
Work has been especially busy with changes in personnel and management. And the general nuttiness of DC since January 20th has kept us busy too.
Anyway I hope everyone is well here. Y’all are good people.
The shelter was down to bigger dogs when I went. Much as I love dogs of any size, it’s not practical or kind to share 560 square feet and an outdoor area that is leash only with one of the big guys. Meanwhile, I’m still on several rescue outfit’s lists.
I’m fixing poke chops, tomato herbed topped eggplant and, because I liked it so much last weekend and still had several in the veggie drawer, sesame sweet potato noodles.
Chili/cheese/slaw dawgs have been ingested. Fart/Belch Fest to follow. Also, da cave is now on DST. All the clocks that need to be set manually have been set cause it was on my mind to do so. This is a task best accomplished whilst it is upon my mind. Thinkin’ I’ll do it later is not a good idea at all.
ETA: Gigity!!! Glad things are goin’ good.
Looks like **FCD **will come home tomorrow in an attempt to beat the snow. It’s too hard to feel confident about when the snow will move thru and where it’ll be. So I get him back 2 days sooner than originally planned.
My soup was yum, as usual. I’ve got 2 big containers for the fridge - I’ll have soup for lunch all week!
I’ve finished all the squares, so tomorrow, I’ll be assembling the afghan. That’ll wrap up my weekend.
I want brownies.
Dinner was pizza; not delivery – the other kind.
Because tonight we “spring forward” to Daylight Savings time I’m posting the following obituary, from 2013. Written with love and affection, it actually did inspire me to write to my Congress critters.
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sunherald/obituary.aspx?pid=163538353
Confession. I bought pimento cheese spread and et it with Triscuits. It was nummy. In weather news, a snowstrom is predicted starting Sunday late night and snowing all day Monday. I have already alerted my boss that I might be taking PTO. What does she care? She’s leaving Tuesday for Italy.
We shall now retire to the boudoir to watch teevee until sleepy time. We’s tahrd!
CupCakes I remember that obit. Makes we wish I had known Harry Stamps.
WetOne sto’ bought pimento cheese?!?! Pardon me while I clutch my pearls and fall onto my faintin’ couch.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Uh-oh, Mooommm’s gonna need to start using coasters again!
I’s beat! got up early & did a 4½k (short 5k) in 23°/7° wind chill. Came home, showered, & got a hair cut. Came home, put on lotsa warm clothes & then went & stood outside in the lower teens wind chill for about two hours with sumovma peeps. There was [del]hot[/del], [del]previously hot[/del] cold food - hamboogers, pulled poke, Shepard’s pie & not very cold beers in a cooler - (ummm, at these temps, I think they’d get colder quicker out of the cooler. :smack:) There was also other, ummm, human anti-freeze that could be ingested in the form of color-appropriate green apple jello shots & jungle juice. Didn’t even make it the extra 1½ blocks to the party I was planning on going to. Even looked up a few times to see the elements going by. One guy was convinced that at the end of the mile they had the fire twucks go up a side street so they could go thru again. I don’t think this happened but I wasn’t watching enough to notice. No, I didn’t drink that much (one beer & one jello shot since I needed to drive afterwards), just hangin’ with friends. Though I did look up one time & saw the baton twirlers. Behind them was the revolutionary war reinactors. She threw up her baton just as they fired off a volley. She flan or ranced (both flinched & ran simultaneously) & her baton hit the ground where she was no longer standing.
I currently use the old-fashioned way’ multiple external HDD, one stored off-site.
Got the dashcam yestidy, at least one for the front winder. Think I may get a second one for the rear & then have them both installed such that they’re wired into the fuse box so I can keep the cig lighters open for other things. Thanks for the advice!
Well, since you’re posting an old obituary, I guess this is appropriate.
