The Up Too Early MMP

My hands are so cracked and dry and bleeding. :frowning: I did buy some cream for them, which I will try out shortly.

My Saturday night excitement? Bathing a very unhappy Siamese mix. At least she didn’t bite or claw or howl.

It’s 6:44 a.m. Sunday, the weather is gorgeous, and I’m off for Purim services. Tally ho, everyone!

For some reason, I had a terrible time falling asleep last night. I don’t know why. I didn’t have any caffeine past what I had at breakfast. I didn’t have anything sugary - in fact, I didn’t have anything after the bowl of soup around 4:30. But I felt WIRED!!!

So I searched Netflix and found the British equivalent of House Hunters and watched an episode. It focused on a couple with 2 kids looking to move to Cornwall. He’d been out of work because of some sort of injury and they wanted a place with space for him to start a business. Their budget was £350,000! I guess the wife had a helluva job if they could afford that much for a house!

Money aside, two of the houses they looked at were quite old - one over 300 years and the other was a converted barn. The interior layouts seemed odd to me, but what struck me most were the low ceilings! They even had to duck to get thru the front door! I’ve noticed similar things in houses on some TV shows - I guess 8’ ceilings weren’t standard in 17th century England. But mostly, the shorter than 6’ doorways were striking. Especially for tall folks.

I did fall asleep eventually, and woke around my normal time, which is now an hour earlier. I think. I’ve reset the clocks and I figure it’ll take a couple of days to resync with them. I hate changing clocks - time to stop this silliness!!

Happy Sunday anyway.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and rainyish with a predicted high of 58 and mostly cloudy for the day. We have a few days of highs in the 60s comin’ up this week. The big plan for the day is deheathenization followed by N.O.L. I think we shall go to the Pubic sto’ and get food from the deli and bring it back to da cave. At least that’s what I am in favor of doin’. We shall see.

Bowser Happy Purim! I went to a Purim service and celebration once. ‘Twas fun. I got a special kick out of stompin’ my feet every time Haman’s name was mentioned.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then at some point purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

My sweetie’s on his way - he just called from the junction of 301 and I10 where he stopped for a sammich. According to GoogleMaps, he’s about 10 hours out, so he should get home between 6 & 7 this evening. Depending on traffic and weather, of course. YAY!

I’m showered, dressed, and fed. Today I shall attempt to finish our taxes. rah. It’s dreary and overcast and I still have no clue what sort of snowpocalypse is in store over the next couple of days. Stoopit weather…

So, it turns out that just because a race is on March 11, doesn’t mean that it *starts at 11. * :smack: I got there at 10:08, just in time to see the runners go by. I was very upset. :frowning:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I’m gonna go watch the Canes Alumni hockey game this afternoon. I saw a flurry.[sup][sup]11[/sup][/sup]

Happy Purim, Bowser!

:frowning: Sorry, sticky.

Mom, what was the Show? I’m always up for anything British.

It was called Escape to the Country. From the description, I thought it was going to focus on specific historical homes. Boy, was I wrong.

I also started watching Hinterland - it’s a murder mystery series set in Wales. I get totally lost when they say the names in Welsh, but not enough to take me completely out of the story. Face it, cop shows are pretty much all the same.

Spousal unit and I have also been watching *Broadchurch *- another cop show. One thing I’ve found about shows made in Britain - ordinary people look like ordinary people. They don’t seem to have the American obsession to choose hotties to play the protagonists, leaving the less gorgeous to play baddies or comic relief. It’s nice to see characters who don’t look like they just stepped out of a photo shoot.

I’ve tossed a load of jeans into the washer. And I emptied and reloaded the dishwasher. I feel rather accomplished! The sun is out, but it’s cold and I don’t think I’ll need to venture out, other than to repark the car on my side of the garage so **FCD **can fit his car in when he gets home.

Well I’ve been officially messed up by the time change–didn’t roll out of bed until almost 9 this morning. May I be the first to say stoopit daylight savings.

Tried these pancakes for breakfast. They’re not that good and they stick to the pan something fierce. Please note how the spiel before the recipe touts how healthy they are and then suggests using coconut oil to grease the pan. Coconut oil is 90% saturated fat. :smack:

Too late.

Alex Catt is on THE LIST. She’s clawed the couch, slammed cabinet doors, tried to eat the Army Men in my Zen Garden, and knocked a picture off the wall. I may rename her Satan.

Plus it has David Tennant.

You have a man-crush on him?? :dubious:

House cleaning is in full swing. Actually doesn’t take as long with two workers. I am taking a break whilst the floors dry in the front room. Then it will be beer time. The laundry will last all day as I was lazy yesterday. The bedrooms are the only thing left except laundry.

I do not foresee cooking today as I don’t want to make any more messes. It will either be leftovers or take out if I have any say in the matter. Or just scrounge.

Happy Sunday. I also overslept this AM and still have to change the clocks.

Jeans are done and hanging in the appropriate closets. Shirts are in the dryer. I’ll be curious to see if the washer starts its beeping again. Maybe it was just caused by a power burp that did something weird to a chip. I did do a cursory search for new washers - *choke-gasp-wheeze! * Here’s hoping I don’t have to buy one this week.

He’s The Doctor! How can you not like him.

There’s a washer and dryer down in the Freecycle zone. Feel free to pick 'em up.

I don’t watch The Doctor.

But I did change the furnace filter, so go me! And laundry is done. Now I think it’s time to assume the Netflix position on the couch.

Mornin’ all. Trying out my new house slippers, the old pair developed a hole so bought two new pairs yesterday (one backless and the other full-coverage). Seem to fill the need.

Set the clocks forward last night before I went to bed, so my timing is not off. Did manage to change the time on my car without looking at the owner’s manual (now that I’m trading it in, I figure it out…). Went down to the local Schlotzsky’s (a deli sandwich place) because they also have Cinnabon and I was craving a Pecanbon…but they didn’t open until 10am, so I settled for Raisin toast.

FCM, hope FCD has a safe trip back.

Bowser, happy Purim.

Midget, I second Sari’s recommendation of Bag Balm.
