I have better shots somewhere, but these are all I could find on short notice. This and this are on the grounds of a beautiful Chinese-Thai temple, a blend of both styles. Besides the architecture, the monks wear Chinese-style pants and shirt, although saffron-colored like normal Thai monks’ robes. Since ours is a corner unit, we see this from almost everywhere in our condo. That was a big selling point for buying the place; we know they’ll not be tearing it down to build an ugly building (like ours!) anytime soon. I took these from our balcony.
It’s called Wat Pho Maen (various spellings in English). I understand that during a brief period of particularly tense domestic disruption in the 1960s, the monks allowed the secret stockpiling of rifles here.
I’ll have to take more later, but these are the ones I took for the Spring photo thread this year. Though not through my window, this is what you can see from there. Let’s be honest, though, there’s not a lot of difference between very late but pre-snow fall, and early though no longer snowy but not yet green spring in NH.
Not the exact view from my window, but this is my neigborhood. My apartment building is just out of sight behind the building on the far right in this view.
My building is almost dead center in the middle of this view, a whitish 20 story building just to the left of the two large green towers.
Most of my doping happens at work, at night, so the view would be of an empty warehouse with big rollup doors looking out into the drive between this building and the next identical one across the way. Usually the doors are open so I will often see an 18-wheeler parked out there or passing by.
I spend most of my time indoors in my sunroom so I see gardens and woods no matter which direction that I look in. This is the view that I look at the most often.
… this makes me feel so much better. Really. Thank you.
Anyway, here is the view out my window – which is much nicer in any season but winter (the tree in the foreground is a crape myrtle – bright pink flowers June through August – and the tree in the background is a witch hazel – fragrant yellow flowers in February). The cats like to look out, though, so I keep the curtain swept aside for them.
Heh - it took me a few moments to realize I was looking at Calgary. My first response was, “Hey! THis looks just like Calgary!”, then I thought all big cities look alike downtown, then when I saw the Shaw building, I realized I was indeed looking at Calgary. Nice work with the panorama view.
These pictures are fascinating to me, to see what other people see when they look out their window. It feels a little bit like I’m looking out of your eyes (but not in a creepy way, like wearing your skin for a suit or anything).
Either that, or they use no paper. I realized I’m the latter when I was looking at the pictures on my work desk, realized I had no room to put down a sheet of paper to write anything down, then realized I always use the computer. The largest sheet of paper I use to write notes would be a small Post-It.
here is a pic from Saturday
That’s the window that is behind my head as I type this. There are two deer in the front yard. One of them is trying to nick some corn off the Squngee.
I posted this and this in the last “what do you see out your window” thread, and that was the last post. Hopefully I won’t kill this thread too.
The pics are what I see from the porch of my office at home, which is where I usually work. Looks kinda boring in the photos, but IRL it is actually rather nice … all that tropical greenery, with Jakarta skyscrapers in the background.
I’m jealous of all of you with vegetation and windows through which to see it. I sit in a windowless room covered in sound board, and work at hatching my escape plan.
