SOOOOOOOOOO much hate. The headband merits a dopeslap and the voice is nails on a chalkboard, but it’s the twee phrasing that pushes it over into thinking that I’d only enjoy a performance of hers if she exploded in the middle of it.
I’m from the town where his family business is, and went to high school with someone who’s definitely somehow related to him (judging by the name/face combo). I wanted to like him, but… no. I didn’t know or care for the song, so it might partly have been that, but his voice didn’t thrill me and his enunciation was abysmal.
Not sure if I liked the helium voiced model but I did love her “I believe that’s still to be decided” line to Cee-Lo (who continues to be Dr. Claw-Rex to me. What a strange guy). Justin Beiber-wannabe sounded terrible and I loved the black guy with the mixed race kids.
I wasn’t a big fan of either. They were *okay *but I don’t think either one will be the next big thing. I adored Jordis, though, and I think she’s my favorite of the competition so far.
Does Christina like anybody? They’ll need to extend the show by a few weeks just so she can fill up her team.
Back on topic, although there were plenty of singers that just weren’t good enough, I think there were some who should have turned some chairs, but the judges are being, in my opinion, very picky this season. Especially Adam.
And I loved how that one lady was going on about how she could have a record contract if she’d get a makeover. Trying to sound like she was hideous. And finally when they reveal her face I thought, “That’s it?” She has a chubby face and short hair, so what?
I’m looking forward to the callbacks; as I mentioned before, I think several people were done in by their song choices.
I rewatched some of the auditions last night, and I have to say that I’m not as impressed with the contestants so far this year. Most of them are okay, but not exciting. In fact, the only one that I really love is the Seven Nation Army guy, who sang it as himself instead of Jack White without either “reinterpreting” it or adding 17 unnecessary Carey-esque runs.
I hated headband girl even MORE the second time around.
We were talking about that, and my guess was that she played it up for drama during her interview, but what “they” probably thought was that she was so damn plain. Short hair and dress like a guy? No problem. But so boring? She looked like she just got off her job at the bookstore and walked up on stage.
I think it was more about incongruity between her look and singing style. But also, she doesn’t have to glam out, but can she spruce up a bit?
I’ve been watching. There’s some good talent there. I can’t keep them all straight now. I agree that a few of them didn’t do themselves justice with their song choice.
I thought the one guy rocking out hard with the beard was great, but they said they mostly didn’t pick him because he didn’t have any variance, it was all at 11. I guess they wanted to see he could do softer as well.
I didn’t care for the model chick with the poofy hair. She did sound a bit like Dia, but it was strange and I didn’t like it. Then again, I never was that fond of Dia’s sound. She played well and had great ability to reshape songs to make them her own, but then her singing annoyed me.
I’m actually glad the talent pool is so good. I was annoyed by the very first guy, but had to admit his singing was pretty good. But now that there’s a deep pool of talented people, I don’t have any qualms about wanting him to lose.
I was thrown by the opera guy. I’m wondering if he picked that song to showcase his ability, not necessarily what he wants. It was such an odd fit for this show, I would have been hardpressed to pick him. But if he wants a pop/rock career and just didn’t have a good song to work with, then I can see him as a trendsetter/new direction kind of thing. Figure out how to mold his voice and talent to something in the pop music scene. I don’t know, that will be a challenge. Unfortunately, I could see that go bad quickly, simply for lack of the right showcase.
I’m also amused by the people asking the judges about what the judges see them doing, and the response being basically “you can do anything with that”. Um, yeah, because you don’t want to say “You’d make a great R&B singer” and then them say “But I want to do country.” The proper response is, “What would you like to do with that?” and work from there.
They’ve still got at least one more 2 hour segment to finish picking their teams.
Given that they are all going for teams of 12, I think this season will be a full 22 episode season, not the shorter season from last year.
I’m also amused by the coaches’ deflections. Like the guy who asked Cee Lo why he waited until the last minute to pick him, and Cee Lo deflected the question by answering why he decided to pick him, rather than explaining what took so long.
A lot of the singers seemed to have weak voices. Most of them were passed over but a couple were picked up. I hope the judges teach them how to add make their vocals a little more solid and quiet as whisper-y.
Wow, all these folks think he’s hot? See…this is, as a straight guy, why I’m constantly perplexed at what makes some men physically hotties over others. To me, Adam seem shifty-eyed, ratlike, and creepy. He seems most apt to be found in some laboratory dungeon scuttling between power switches and Van de Graffs wringing his hands, hissing “yes, master, yes, the power is ready master”.
Now be honest, it’s just the musician factor isn’t it?
Well, you’d be disappointed. Someone found me the rest of that picture and it had a lady’s hands covering the area … not just the hands but the forearms.
Erm… everyone on the show is a musician, except for Carson Daly.
Physically, Blake would be the one who turned my head IRL (but then he talks, and it twangs, and my vagina clamps shut). In fact, if a completely unknown Adam Levine approached me at a bar, my immediate reaction would be “Wow, you have doucheface.” Because in repose, he does. It’s what animates the face that makes him attractive. It’s the gleam in the eye, and the little twitch of the mouth. He’s funny, snarky, and occasionally adorably stoked. I suspect he’s quite intelligent, based solely on the fact that I have never once found a stupid person sexy. He’s sexy. Ya got it or ya don’t.
The thing is - I just find him hot to look at. And yes, it’s partly the musician thing but there’s something about him on this show that grabs me. I’ve been MEH about him in the past.
Would I date him? No. I suspect he’s rather full of himself. Sleep with him if I had the chance? Hell yes! hehe
