Mrs G and I were overjoyed to see Jordis Unga as a contestant. To fill in the non-reality show junkies, she was also a contestant on Rockstar: INXS and did amazing on that show. It’s worth youtubing her performances from there, she deserves to hit the big time.
I loved the Sandwich guy from Chicago. Best new version of Folsom Prison I’ve ever heard. I love the Johnny Cash version too. It’s nice hearing a new take on it.
The lady that didn’t want to study medicine was really good too. Was her family from India? Or did they say?
I felt bad for Tony the guy with all those years of Broadway and he even went to perform London’s West End for a couple years. With that kind of resume I was expect all four chairs to swivel. This guy is a pro and obviously respected in the theatre.
One chair turned? :dubious: Ouch. That’s gotta sting.
The lady that rejected college & future Medical training was Mathai.
I’m frustrated with the Voice web site this year. I went over there to listen to some of these auditions again. Last season they had them. This season its hit or or miss when you click the videos under the persons name. Sometimes its just an interview and you may not hear any singing. I really wanted to hear Jamie Lono’s Folsom Prison again.
I agree with Cee Lo: What, are your ears busted? How did you not like Tony Vincent doing Queen?
Jamie Lono doing Folsom Prison Blues was nice. I’m not really familiar with the song, but that was an interesting take.
Charlotte Sometimes, wasn’t thrilled with her. But understand why she got their attention with her different sound.
I’m still expecting a couple of those cut ones to reappear in wild card slots.
It’s hard to understand editing that shows sob stories and don’t makes, then glosses over ones who made it in montages. I know all this was previously filmed - all of these auditions were done in one day, so we’re getting packaged, edited versions that tell the story the producers came up with after they had the results in hand.
Looks like their won’t be any 2nd chance rounds. Adam and CeeLo already filled their teams.
Can’t believe CeeLo picked that rock duo. Their voices were totally out of sync. Some of the worst harmony I’ve heard in a long, long time. Pitchy too.
Auditions are all finished. I’ll predict now that blues singer at the end will be tough to beat. There’s a reason Christina got up there and sung with her. I liked the folk singer that Christina picked too. But, I’m not sure how he’ll do in the Battle Rounds.
This show is enjoyable if you wait until at least halfway through it to begin watching on the DVR I can take very little commentary and none of Carson Daly or their backstory.
Blake seems to have the best team.
It’s very clear they have to do the “almost hit the button” fake out for suspense/ratings. He doesn’t enjoy doing it like Christina or Adam do.
I was thinking this season would be a little more interesting because there hadn’t been a Javier Colon. When he auditioned, it was pretty clear that he would most likely win it. Then at the end, we got Sera Hill, and now the competition is about who will be her runner up.
How is it clear they have to do anything? Can’t they be thinking about it? Can’t that be a natural reaction to trying to make a judgement call in a time limit?
We already had them acknowledge they should have picked people they let go. Hell, we had an incident where Cee Lo heard something right at the end that convinced him, he thought he missed out, and then Adam told him to push the button. Turned out she was doing the last refrain in slo mo and he was able to snag her up. Why is it hard to fathom that they are required to do anything?
This is all pre-filmed. They filmed all these auditions in one day. The battle rounds have already at least been partially filmed - they showed extensive previews, for heaven’s sake. This stuff is heavily edited by the show producers. They mix and matched the comments between shows.
I’m really hating the pacing of the show. I will listen to the stories and interviews, I’m okay with the commentary, but the excessive previews and recaps for every commercial break are killing me. I understand they’re trying to play to the channel flipping crowd, but it bugs the piss out of me. I DVR the show and try to ffw through, but it’s hard to parse where to start and stop.
That made me laugh!
(You could go buy her a puppy from a puppy mill and film footage of her futilely trying to save it, going into debt with vet bills? Be sure to name the puppy “Little Voice” or “Betty White”. Your daughter then sings “In The Arms Of An Angel” for her song. Won’t be a dry eye in the entire USA.)
We just got a DVD from a friend in Germany with the final (4 hour!?!?!) finale of the German version of The Voice. We watched it last night.
Same sob stories as USA version.
Over-kill with production numbers and guest “star” duets with contestants.
Long, drawn out, build-the-tension, announcement of winners.
If you want to see the video clip of the winner singing her song that is being sold in Germany now, here is the link.
