You couldn’t be more wrong. Smart zombies aren’t part of the mythos. As far as zombies retaining some memories of their former lives, we’ve known that since the first episode of the series.
Did you miss the part where the governor gathered a group of his men together and set off to straight out murder those soldiers/guardsman?
So what’s up with the tea? They certainly made a point of that.
I hope you’re talking about zombie mythos in general, and not answering that with specific foreknowledge. Either way, I’d prefer you didn’t answer that, because I really don’t care about the former, and I’d rather not know about the latter. I was just theorizing and hoping, not looking to have anything answered definitively.
As for your reference to the first episode, I assume you’re talking about the black guy’s wife who lingered around the house. It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen that episode, but I vaguely remember that as being somewhat ambiguous at to whether she was just lurking in the same area she was bitten and hoping to feed, or if she was displaying indications of having retained memory. Feel free to refresh my memory (heh) of her actions, but either way, I really don’t think anything she did rose to the level of being “smart” or semi-sentient.
IIRC, wasn’t there a scene where the wife tried the handle of the door of her own house?
Everyone is Igor Sikorsky now.
Of course helicopters can crash in a catastrophic way. Especially if something that is critical to controlling the rotors breaks.
I highly doubt the Woodbury folk could take out a helicopter with their small arms. The “shot” you heard was probably something breaking.
That sounds right, but hiding in the woods while observing and presumably plotting would be an order of magnitude beyond that.
Anyway, it’s just a theory that I’m pulling for because the whole zombie aspect has gotten quite stale and boring, IMO. Probably just wishful thinking…
Anyone have any idea what the zombie kill count or ratio is this season? Seems to me to be far higher than past seasons at this point. We are getting lots of good ones for only a few episodes into the new season.
I kind of know what you mean, I watched zombie stuff all day Saturday on the Syfy channel and basically it was all the same scenario over and over. It’s the survivors story that is most interesting.
On Andrea and Melatonin being allowed to leave, I don’t think so. If they choose to leave then I’m sure they will be hunted down and killed in order to protect the existence of Woodbury. Do you think the Governor is so curious about Rick’s group because he wants to hunt them down too?
I think Michonne would be more willing to stay if they would return her sword. I think being alone so long she has learned to rely on herself for everything and her sword is part of her identity. Take that away and she no longer knows who she is or how to act. I don’t think she would go loopy and start killing people. That being said, I can understand why the village needs to carefully control these type of things…
Regarding the aquarium heads, when you don’t have the TV talking heads, you have to make do.
Why the curfew? Is that when folks disappear to fuel the street torches with human fat?
Well, because quite obviously night is a more dangerous world in the zombie apocalypse. If there’s a strict curfew, the guards will know that any movement is suspicious. There’s less potential for accidental shootings. If there is some sort of zombie break in, there’s less likely to be any vector for turned people to turn others. They told the story in this episode of the military base that was somehow infilitrated, and people started getting turned, which turned to panic, which turned to more being turned - keeping everyone locked in safely at night is a significant boost to security in this situation.
People are more diurnal anyway without electricity - it’s not as big a sacrifice.
The timeline is a bit odd, but I think Michonne has actually been with Andrea considerably longer at this point than she was alone, despite what has been shown on screen.
As for the helicopter crash, when the pilot was talking to the Governor, he explained that the helicopter took some serious damage from a walker attack, but they flew it anyway because they had no other means of getting away.
I think the Governor killed the military guys in order to take their supplies and vehicles, furthering Woodbury’s inventory.
The curfew is to keep people safe. After dark, everything becomes more dangerous. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
In the previews for next week, someone is opening the gates to the prison, allowing walkers in…not sure who this is but I’m guessing it’s whomever was watching Carrol.
i think that the person in the woods is Morgan. i haven’t read the comics or anything, but he was a pretty major character for the first couple of episodes and they continued the ruse for awhile after that. plus i like that actor, so bring him back (wishful thinking)
I liked him in Jericho.
Curfew: Oh yeah? So when does the Governor collect human fat for his torches and electrical generators, hmmmm?
Yeah, during breakfast I was sure the tea was drugged (although the scientist drank plenty of it himself). As the scene ended I kept waiting to see their eyelids droop. During their conversation in the laboratory the Governor mentioned that the tea was one of the reasons he needed the scientist, but I read that as a joke insinuating that he made a mean cup of tea and nothing more. Perhaps it was just a symbol of the safe, idyllic community they’ve set up? Rick’s group fighting tooth and nail to survive, desperate for food and supplies, while in Woodbury normalcy reigns. You can even get a nice cuppa.
Did anyone else think “Carl wouldn’t make it 10 minutes here” when the Governor mentioned the curfew? “We’re sorry folks, but your son was a moron who was putting the whole town in danger with his constant wandering and inability to follow directions. We had to put him down…”
On that front, I’m guessing that the base didn’t know about everyone being infected. Someone died in the hospital, got hauled to the morgue, and started munching down.
You’d think that they would know about that, but it’s not out that far out to think they didn’t. Presumably most of the people dying in the zombie apocalapse do so from zombie bites, so you wouldn’t figure it out right away. Plus, of course, it’s a really depressing thing, so you’d be looking for ways to not accept it.
One time our heros even assume that there must have been a bite or scratch on some zombies who didn’t have obvious injuries.
I think it’s more than that, but I’m not sure what. Crack tea, to make everyone in the town dependent on the Governor’s supply? I dunno.
Well, that would put the Governor back in the “good guy” category.
One of the writer’s really likes his tea. It’s an inside joke based on that.
