The Walking Dead; 3.03 "Walk with Me" (open spoilers)

This. The moment she grabbed the car and ran off to check on Rick for no good reason, then crashed the car because she wasn’t watching the road. It was just so monumentally stupid.

That, and she has done very little in the whole series to actually help things. She’s mostly there to cause problems, and that’s kind of how the writers seem to be treating her: as a walking difficulty generator.

It did serve a function. He drew all of the soldiers out into the open where they became easy targets.

It sounded like gunshots to me, so it’ll be interesting to see if that comes out in a later episode.

Looked like it to me.

Go to your (zombie-free) room.

Just re-watched the 1st episode of the season 1 and there was also a nod to this idea that some basic recollections may remain in the opening sequence. Rick drives up to the abandoned gas station and encounters the little girl. The first thing Rick sees the little girl do is stop, bend down and pick up a child’s stuffed animal (presumably this girl’s stuffed animal). Of course the scene plays out that this little girl is already a zombie and Rick dispatches her with a bullet to the noggin’.

Now, I tend to agree with others that this does not imply higher-order abilities like being able to plot, plan, perform complex tasks, etc. Just some very basic recollections of familiarity.

Also, the scene post opening credits Rick makes it pretty clear that his and Lori’s relationship is not good and that she is pissed at him all the time. He even conveys a example from the previous night where he sums it up as “The difference between men and women, I would never say something that cruel to her. Certainly not in front of Carl”.

So really, seems Lori was a real bitch even before we get to see her many examples of the same in the show.

Did anyone else get the feeling in the final scene that the Governor was a bit haunted by the heads in the tanks?

At first, it seemed like they were just setting him up to be Hannibal Lecter-crazy, but then I thought, perhaps, he keeps the heads of people he has murdered for the sake of the town to keep the cost of what he does in perspective or something.

Creepy, yes, but kind of … misguidedly noble-creepy? Like self-flagellation or something.

I like that idea.

I don’t like that idea. Keep your inside jokes out of my drama!

This show is mining a lot of the same stuff that the Battlestar Galactica reboot did; the zombies are just a device to put humanity in extremis and see how terrible people can be in survival mode.

And The Governor is playing the Admiral Cain role. A lot of what he’s doing is absolutely correct - curfews, clear divisions of labor, strong fortifications, and even a semblance of “civilization.” but he’s clearly a bad human being.

Mind control tea would be a particularly silly direction for this show to go. We’ve already got zombies and end of the world without having to involve voodoo.

Exactly. Every other member of the group has at least some positive trait that makes them worthwhile. Daryl is an excellent marksman and survivalist. Hershel has medical training. Carol has always worked hard and has stepped up and learned some first aid from Hershel. Even poor neglected T-dog at least provides muscle. Beth (Hershel’s youngest) doesn’t really do much, but she at least doesn’t cause any trouble.

About the only things Lori seems to do are occasionally make breakfast and watch over her kid, and she doesn’t do a terribly good job of the latter. She was constantly saying useless things to Rick like “I have no clue what you should do, but no matter what, I’m here for you” last season, but it’s obvious now that she can’t even handle that. She’s like a crude stereotype of a fickle, pre-menstrual, emotional shrew of a woman who can’t take care of herself, a stereotype that is made all the more jarring when she’s placed amidst so many other stronger, smarter, more complex, and more likable female characters (Carol, Maggie, Andrea). They say that behind every great man is a great woman, but I really don’t see Lori giving Rick too much support.

O any of you female viewers dislike Lori?

The zombies evidently know how to operate lawn mowers. The grass in the prison yard was nicely maintained.

Not half has stupid as performing unprotect CPR on a man who might be dead & in the process of reanimating. It was pure luck that she ended up bring Hershel back to live instead of getting herself killed like the stepmom in the first set of webisodes did. Can anyone think of anything (other than laundry) that Lori’s actually done to help the group?

True, but that makes Rick Adama/Roslin. And Cain didn’t really creat a semblance of civilization. She was the one leading an armed gang from place to place with no real long term plan (ie what Rick’s been doing). At least in that respect Woodbury has alot more in common with the Rag Tag Fleet than it does with Pegasus.

I just figured the tea was symbolic of all the little civilized niceties a post-apocalyptic society would have to give up. You know; tea, imported foods generally, fair trials…

I don’t remember anyone ever saying anything nice about Lori. There’s no gender divide. She’s a soap opera character in a show that should be soap-free.

I disliked her from the start. I don’t remember if she was on birth control when she was fucking Shane, but she should have been. She thought Rick was dead. Big whoop. How much time passed before she started up with Shane? A month? She allied herself with Shane because he was top dog, not because she was lonely and scared and horny.

She let Rick and Shane go at each other because of her. She led Shane on. She couldn’t be bothered to keep an eye on her kid – Carl should have been her #1 priority. She made that stupid trip to town. She ragged on Rick for assuming leadership.

She’s a bit better this season, so far anyway, but I wouldn’t care if she bit it.

Don’t the pregnant hormones give her any slack? I know, I know. What was her excuse before she got pregnant? If she would just be consistant, but she’s constantly changing her mind and Rick’s finally had it trying to figure out what she wants. Maybe the guy in the bushes will take her.

Speaking of the webisodes, I haven’t seen them, or heard much talk about them. Are they worth watching?

I don’t feel any dislike for her but she’s not one of my favorites. I guess her skill is fertility? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, she is cute.

I was probably seeing things, and don’t have a DVR to check, but were some of the heads in the office still alive? It seemed like some of the mouths were moving.
