It looked like a rabbit to me as well… which seemed even more disturbing since it was a waste of food.
Given the abrupt shift in priorities, is anybody going to care about someone’s amateur taxidermy?
I’m pretty sure it was a rabbit. I noticed the long ears.
Looks pretty dead, too. :dubious:
Okay, I guess it is a rabbit. I blame the dark scene and my 15 inch laptop screen. Maybe Santa will finally get me a big screen TV for Christmas so I won’t have to rely on threads like this to get all the details.
But it should have been a rat because we’ve seen rats in the prison and obviously someone was catching them to feed to walkers. But this begs the question, where did they get a rabbit? Even if one was scampering around the prison yard it might be a little harder to catch. Did they set traps? Did they happen across a sick or dying one? It should have been a rat because we had already accepted that someone was catching them somewhere in the prison. Now we have to accept that they either lucked into a rabbit or they are wasting their hunting skills doing creepy things.
Skipped most of the comments, as I was just able to finally watch the ep:
-
Any sane person in that defensive position would have put a bullet between the guv’s eyes at first opportunity. Take off the head, the body dies. Just like with a zombie.
-
These people are the worst shots ever. Anywhere, at any time. With all the time they’ve had for target practice, nobody there can hit his ass with both hands.
-
The guv blathering on and on, repeating dialog already spoken was an obvious indicator that the writers ran out of ideas and had to stretch things out for the Grand Finale.
-
Michonne and Daryl are the only people there with any goddamn sense at all. Kill the worst of them and the rest will fall into line.
-
I was hoping to see the guv zombie-fied. Also the baby. I hate babies as a plot device.
-
They’re milking the show for advertising dollars. Get on with some new story arcs and somebody gives a shit about. Maybe with the prison gone, we’ll get some better stories. Otherwise, this show will be dead in a year.

Thank Og that Justified is coming back in January.
Not me.
I was yelling NONONO!
Then a hearty YES! when creepy girl headshotted lesbian #2. Damn, don’t mess with her. I bet she handed Lil Asskicker off to someone else then smeared the carrier with blood just because she thought it would look pretty (like the puddle in Glen’s cell)
Poor Herschel… you knew when he made the proud face at Rick’s little speech that he was a goner. But DAYUM… total decap? Yeesh…
Morbid thought… we didn’t see anyone put a bullet in the head… Is there gonna be a zombie Herschel head sitting there for all eternity? Poor guy.
I would have preferred that Michonne had stabbed the Gov in the head, right through his good eye, rather than not-Maggie shooting him because was mad at him because she stupidly let her daughter get eaten mere feet from her.
bolding mine
you couldn’t be more wrong with an automated wronging machine
They made a big enough point of the camera lingering on it, so I’m guessing we’ll come back to it.
Oh, I’m sure we’ll come back to it, probably after enough time in-universe has passed to get us, the audience, wondering “why do the character still care about that stuff, don’t they have more pressing issues at hand?”
New from Ronco! The Wrongenator 3000!
Now I’m giggling.
Yahoo TV’s 8 questions we still want answered. Number 2 looks promising, though it could just be misdirection. I’m hoping it’s not.
I like that! I’m going to steal it.
Come on people! No need to be so nitpicky! I happen to think that in the context of the show, the fight and most of the decisions made by the people made perfect sense! This is a group of survivors in a hostile, zombified world, you can’t expect them to have perfect battle tactics like some trained legion
Lots of people are saying the tank assault made no sense, but if I were a non-military guy who happened to have a big shiny weapon like a tank to scare people with, that’s exactly how I’d use it: drive it through the front and blow holes in crap. These are not generals and military strategists we’re talking about here, most of them were ordinary people. With that mindset, it makes perfect sense that they would hide behind the tank. Hell, that’s exactly what I would do, use it for cover as it moved forward and take shots from behind it.
Mitch is some random redneck given power and influence by his proximity to the Governor, of course he’s not going to sit back and shoot strategically, he’s going to go in with all guns blazing and Skynyrd playing in his mind. He probably figured that a few shots would scare Rick’s group into submission or flight, there was no need for strategy when one side has a tank and the other side doesn’t.
Yes, the Governor forgot about Michonne, but so what? He was being shot at and did get shot in the arm. He killed Herschel out of emotion (that was totally not thought out) and then had to flee for his life to some cover when they started shooting, so of course Michonne would get lost amongst the chaos.
As for sniping the Gov’s group in the first place, nobody on Rick’s side is “bad”, so they would almost never shoot first. Yes, Carl did before, but he’s not a complete trigger happy psycho. It would make sense that he and Daryl and the rest of them would watch Rick and see what he would do and not take a first shot. And after Herschel was killed, they were all so shocked that they couldn’t simply snipe a bullet between the Gov’s eyes, the random shooting made perfect sense and their holding back made perfect sense. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if in later episodes we see exposition by Carl or Daryl or Beth or Maggie talking about how they regret not shooting first.
It also was believable that the Governor’s group would come out in broad daylight and challenge Rick. This wasn’t about simply taking Rick’s safety, the Governor wanted to beat Rick, make him submit openly. The only way to do that is to challenge him to come out and have Rick give up. Sneaking up on the prison at night and attacking Rick’s group by stealth was not going to accomplish that. Its not stupid, its hubris, and a bit of insanity on the Governor’s part, but that’s why he went to the prison instead of launched an attack by stealth. Or, you can think that the Governor was so convinced he would get Rick to leave the prison that he didn’t consider Rick’s group putting up a tough fight to be a big possibility. What he did was exactly what his character would do
Most of the other things that people nitpicked can be explained by the general chaos of the battle. When you’re getting shot at, you forget that a guy you saw ran behind a bus. The rest of them presumably had their duties and focused on that while they were dodging bullets, that’s why Rick was able to surprise the Gov from behind the bus. And nobody had Molotovs prepared, or a flanking strategy prepared, this all happened quickly and with little preparations. The only thing Rick’s group could have done was to shoot from cover until the Gov’s people got closer.
Only one thing bothered me about the battle and that was Daryl’s zombie shield. In universe, this is a major mistake. We’ve seen plenty of zombies get shot through so there’s no way he should have been safe behind the zombie. Everything else can be explained with little suspension of disbelief
YogSosoth, so basically, everything in the show makes sense, except for the zombie shield?
Thing is, I’m not a general or tactician. I’m just a regular guy, and that shit didn’t make sense to me.
The ability to head shoot walkers at will, but not to be able to hit a person with a hail of fire doesn’t make sense in the universe of the show. Also, how can the governor whip out his handgun and accurately shoot walkers in the head at 50 yards. He should have no depth perception.
He aims with his bad eye sometimes, too.
It just occurred to me; have we seen any baby zombies yet? Because a baby zombie Rick jr. would have been awesome.
Well, dead to me, anyway.
You really only need binocular vision for depth perception out to about five feet or so. I’m basically blind in one eye, but I’m actually really accurate when throwing a ball and shooting arrows. Firearms are even easier, as unless you’re shooting a hell of a long way away the drop is fairly negligible.
Most things make sense in context and in the rules established by the universe. The zombie shield stands out because it violated that. I’m not saying you have to like it, only that I believe most of those things that people have issues with can be explained or forgiven as the actions of untrained people in highly stressful situations
Well I am a regular guy and that made perfect sense to me. In fact, I would have done many of the things in that show (tank rush strategy, shooting random buildings, following behind the tank, up-front confrontation). I may be a horrible person to lead a group into battle, but I think like they do
This is simply a TV/movie trope. When has a hail of bullets/arrows/blaster fire EVER hit the mark with any significance? 99% of the time, the more people that are firing at you, the easier it is to escape unscathed. You might as well stop watching TV and movies if that bothers you so much. And I have a perfectly good explanation of the good headshots. Most times, when that happens, its a guy who is taking careful aim at a zombie or another person. In this case, most people were shooting wildly while running and being shot at. It makes sense that there wouldn’t be any headshots then. As for the Governor, I don’t really think that was 50 yards away so its not a big deal for me.
