The Walking Dead; 3.16 "Welcome to the Tombs" (open spoilers)

Happy Easter; the season finale is tonight. Finally we get to see the Woodbury Militia invade the prison. Anybody wonder effect the zombie apocalypse has effected how any surviving Christians celebrate Easter?

Ok let’s have some predictions on whos not making it out of the battle: mine is Hershel.

Maggie’s little sister, Andrea, asthma boy, assorted townspeople.

Didn’t Merle take out asthma boy last week?

Wait, is this an episode of The Walking Dead, or is it an hour of commercials with some zombie-related television show?

Man, only The Walking Dead could make a season-finale with a giant shootout and set pieces boring.

OK…that was beat. And Carl needs a big punch in the face to remind himself that his is a little kid.

Eh, it was decent. One of the best episodes of this season, though that’s sadly not saying much. I thought that Andrea’s death scene fell quite flat. they tried to make it this big dramatic, tragic thing, but she was flapping her gums at Milton instead of trying to get those pliers, and those seconds she wasted turned out to make the difference. She was a much better character in the comics, and it’s a shame they didn’t translate her well.

Not sure why they took the residents of Woodbury to the prison, rather than occupying Woodbury instead. I know the prison is a bit more defensible, but Woodbury seems like it’s got much better infrastructure and supplies. I should hope they brought supplies along with the people, but with these characters, who knows if they have that much sense?

I have to admit that I did enjoy the fake out at the prison, though it didn’t seem like they actually killed any of the attackers, just scared them away.

There was a bunch of stuff in the back of the truck, so presumably they scavenged the supplies (I’m going to assume the bus was also full of stuff).

And let’s hope that the beginning episode of the next season shows that deuce and a half sitting in the prison yard.

Yeah, it didn’t look like they killed any one in the tombs - but the one woman called it a slaughter, so maybe we just didn’t see them fall.

I didn’t like the whole “we won we won we won!!!” thing. They didn’t do anything. Everyone was nicely trapped inside and no one thought to ransack their vehicles for arms, blowout the tires, disable the engines or hell, just steal the trucks all together.
Even better, steal the trucks, lock them in and shoot at them from a safe distance. Kinda like the way the cleared the yard of zombies, but in reverse. All they did was piss off the governor.
Another idea would have been to just stay out of the prison the whole time (since they magically knew when it was going to be attacked) and let the governor think they ran away. In all likelihood, he probably never would have returned thinking they were out of his hair.
And speaking of that, did it bother anyone else that no one seems to be concerned about his whereabouts?

So is Woobury abandoned now? The Gov took most of the able-bodied adults with him, then slaughtered them, and it looks like everybody else defected. If it’s just the Governor and a few lieutenants left wouldn’t it make more sense to simply take over Woodbury. :dubious: On the other hand the prison does have alot of cells for the old people to sleep in. And Carl may be a psychopath, but he did have a valid point. Alot of their problems wouldn’t have happened if they killed the right people (of couse hindsight’s 20/20). :smack:

I thought Glenn pegged a few people, but either way, you have to remember, these aren’t military people, most of them have probably never even worked the wall. The governor trained them to be happy hippy mindless commune people and suddenly they’re in a dark deep dank prison basement with flashbangs and thousands of high caliber rounds flying all over the place. It’s like the first time a 5 year old gets a scratch and screams like her finger just got cut off.

Glenn and Maggie were shooting down on people without cover running out like ducks in a line. Missed every single one of them. I didn’t see anyone at all die inside the tombs either, but their numbers did seem a bit thinner than when they went in. Gotta keep in mind that the Governor has been steadily losing his fighters throughout the season, apart from the hispanic guy and the black guy the rest were bottom of the barrel.

I’d feel safer in the prison. It has two chain link fences (which are currently breached) and then a thick concrete wall and heavy doors. Zombies don’t get inside. At Woodbury they’re using makeshift wall and trucks around the perimeter, they’ve talked about zombies making it in and they need 24 hour security on the wall. It might be nicer, but it’s not as safe.

That was interesting. Carl is getting hardened very quickly. He seems to be of the mind that you’re either with us or you have to die, right now.

But I’m still going to go back to…why? Unless the show is trying to make a political point, why do they all have to fight? It’s alive people vs zombies. It seems to me that all the alive people should be on the same team. “Hey, you’re alive, come join our team. Oh, it’s getting crowded in hear, let’s push the walls out and make the space bigger”

It was a pretty weak season finale. It didn’t look like the folks from Rick’s side killed anyone on the Governor’s side during the battle in the prison. Well, not counting Carl murdering the teenager who was surrendering. It’s too bad because the last few episodes were pretty good.

When Carl was telling Rick to fuck off he said “you let Andrew go and he came back and killed mom”, what the hell was he talking about?

He let the zombies in, which ended up killing Lori.

Lori died in childbirth. And i am still not placing Andrew.

No shit. That was ridiculous.

Yeah, but Lori would’ve almost certainly died anyway (though someone else would’ve put her down). Not that Carl get’s this.
