The Walking Dead; 4.08 "Too Far Gone" (open spoilers)

Or “Shane Jr.”…we don’t know.

It’s like their whole point is life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. Somebody’s been reading too much Hobbes. Surely we can have a show where 90% of the population is wiped out and the remaining 10% don’t spend all their time killing each other? Is that the way humans are? I guess Hobbes thought so.

Speaking of zombies and babies, how long before Maggie turns up preggers?

But it’s not too much to expect to have battle tactics at least as good as a bunch of random message board readers can come up with. Just basic stuff like “use the tank to shoot the defenders, not random holes in walls” and “don’t completely forget there was a guy standing right in front of you five seconds ago that had no where to go except behind that bus”.

It’s incredibly easy to play Battle Commander for ANY situation you’re not in.
People do this kind of thing about ACTUAL real life battles (“Why didn’t General X does this in battle Y–it’s incredibly OBVIOUS.”. It’s inherently silly to do it for fiction.

It’s silly to post about a TV show on a message board, too, but it is amusing.

I agree, but isn’t there a tipping point where it just gets boring for everyone else?

Surely, then we unsubscribe to the thread and join one arguing if gambusia affinis deserves its bad rep.

But it’s bad fiction if the result is instead of saying “cool fight, I’m totally engrossed” and rather sit there the whole time rolling your eyes and thinking how this fight could’ve gone down in a cool way for the same budget if someone just wrote or choreographed something interesting.

It’s bad TV and deserves as much criticism as, say, if a dance choreography in a movie is lame or if the way they choose to shoot a bank heist is boring and confusing.

Some people DID think it was a cool fight and some people did find it engrossing. The majority of people on this board voted that for the episode overall – they LOVED IT.
Other people are complaining because the fight didn’t go how THEY thought it should go.
Some of their reasons might be valid but that doesn’t make them absolutely right.

The fight was great - it was tense - but it was also incredibly stupid (both in universe and out) - but it was exactly the type of battle you expect when you have dumb meeting dumber.

(Daryl being the only obvious intelligence in the bunch)

Yet, he used a zombie as a shield.

It was very fat.
For a zombie.

and his strategy worked - he neutralized 2 threats with one zombie.

Just think what he could do with a bird and a bush!

You guys are hardly random, this is board is a non-random sample of the smartest people on the internet!

They actually addressed this in-show, when Andrea was learning to shoot and either Shane or Rick took her to a cul-de-sac out in the suburbs on a scavenging mission. She had to learn to take careful aim to score a headshot, overcoming her natural panic response.

No doubt a similar learning curve might exist for when people are shooting at you in the midst of a tank barrage.

Forgive me

Walking Dad jokes. Horrible. No really, they are.

Ah, that’s a different kettle of zombie heads.

farmageddon!

“What’s eating you, Carl? Get it? Eating you? Carl? CARL?!”

IIRC the cast & crew called it “barn-ageddon”.
